Hidden Gems: Meet Emilio Chavez of Anita’s Bridal Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emilio Chavez.

Emilio Chavez

Hi Emilio, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My parents immigrated from Mexico to offer us a better life/future shortly after my dad passed away in a car accident on his way to work. Our whole life crumbled, and we knew failure wasn’t an option. We’ve worked really hard ever since. I worked at a restaurant as a waiter for 10 years and was doing really good and saving money; one day, out of nowhere, my boss told me I had one week to find a new job because he had sold the restaurant. I was in disbelief and scared because I didn’t know what I was going to do. I reached out to my sister, who already owned a bridal shop, and with her help and the help of social media, Anita’s Bridal Boutique became downtown LA’s biggest bridal and quinceañera shop.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One year after opening Covid happened, and everything shut down.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Anita’s Bridal Boutique?
We sell high-end designer quinceañera and wedding dresses.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Being close to my family has been my biggest blessing.
