Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Yi.
Hi Eddie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Before starting Healthcare Staffing Solution, LLC, I spent over eight years managing a preventative care facility for seniors in the San Fernando Valley. As the Director, I oversaw every aspect of the operation — from staffing and budgeting to clinical supervision and compliance. It was a role that required wearing many hats and taught me how complex and demanding healthcare management can be.
That experience shaped how I viewed leadership and problem-solving. I realized that one of the biggest challenges every healthcare organization faces is staffing — not just finding people, but finding the right people and keeping them engaged. That’s what inspired me to start Healthcare Staffing Solution in 2018: a company focused on helping organizations like the one I used to run by taking one of their heaviest burdens — HR — and turning it into a strength.
Then COVID-19 hit, and the entire healthcare industry was pushed to its limits. Staffing shortages were everywhere. During that time, one of our clients was awarded a government contract to conduct COVID testing for the entire Los Angeles Unified School District — serving roughly 500,000 people, including students, teachers, and staff. They reached out to us for help, and within six months, we successfully recruited and deployed more than 4,000 healthcare professionals to support the effort.
That moment became a turning point for our company. We grew rapidly and evolved from a small recruiting firm into a full-service HR and staffing company. Today, Healthcare Staffing Solution provides three major services that help businesses build stronger teams and operate more efficiently.
The first is Recruiting. We handle the entire front end of the hiring process — sourcing, vetting, and conducting preliminary interviews before submitting candidates to our clients. This saves organizations valuable time and money by eliminating the need to chase candidates or go through multiple rounds of screening. By the time a profile reaches the client, it’s already qualified, committed, and ready for a final interview — whether that’s a working interview or an in-person meeting with the hiring director.
The second is Staffing and Employer of Record (EOR) management. In this model, Healthcare Staffing Solution becomes the legal employer of record for the people we place. We take care of everything that has to do with HR — from payroll, benefits, and time management to workers’ comp and liability insurance. Some of our clients now operate with zero direct employees, fully outsourcing their HR to us. This approach removes administrative stress and legal risk while allowing clients to focus on patient care, operations, and growth.
The third service is Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO). This is designed for organizations that need to hire at scale. Clients can retain our recruiters to continuously submit qualified candidates on a monthly basis, without being charged per hire. It’s ideal for large healthcare systems or growing companies that need consistent recruiting support.
While healthcare remains our core, we’ve expanded to serve other industries, including legal services and F&B. Regardless of the field, our approach remains the same — understanding what truly motivates people and creating systems that support retention and satisfaction.
One insight we discovered early on is that retention isn’t just about how much people are paid, but how consistently they’re paid. Inspired by companies like Uber and Lyft, we introduced weekly pay cycles — every Friday before employees head home. That small change led to a 35% increase in retention. It showed us that employees value stability and recognition just as much as compensation.
At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to building better workplaces — advocating for employers who want to strengthen their teams and supporting employees who want to grow within them. In a chaotic job market, our goal is simple: create balance, stability, and opportunity for both sides.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any business that deals with people, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges in staffing is the unpredictability of human behavior. You can source, vet, and prepare a candidate perfectly, but there are times when they simply don’t show up for the interview or even the first day of work. It’s a reality of the industry that no amount of process or technology can completely eliminate.
Another challenge is retention. We can find great people, but long-term success also depends on the work environment they enter. Factors like leadership style, company culture, and day-to-day communication play a major role in whether someone stays or leaves. As a staffing partner, we can coach and advise our clients on best practices, but ultimately, the culture has to be built from within.
Those experiences taught us to stay adaptable and empathetic — to understand that we’re not just managing resumes, we’re managing people’s lives and expectations. It’s what keeps us grounded and always looking for ways to improve how we connect the right people with the right workplaces.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Healthcare Staffing Solution, LLC.?
Healthcare Staffing Solution, LLC is an HR and workforce management company that specializes in helping healthcare organizations — and increasingly, businesses in other industries — build reliable, long-term teams. We’re known for our hands-on, relationship-driven approach to staffing and HR outsourcing.
What sets us apart is that we don’t operate like a traditional recruiting agency. We approach every client as a long-term partner. Our role doesn’t end once a position is filled — we stay involved to ensure the placement works, compliance is maintained, and operations run smoothly. Many of our clients treat us as an extension of their HR department rather than a vendor.
Our core services include Recruiting, Employer of Record (EOR) Staffing, and Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO). Through these, we help businesses eliminate the stress of hiring, onboarding, payroll, and compliance management. For many clients, we handle everything from A to Z — payroll processing, benefits, workers’ compensation, and even employee relations. In several cases, companies have no direct employees at all; we act as their full HR department so they can focus entirely on their operations.
Beyond the systems and structure, what I’m most proud of is the culture we’ve built — one that values empathy, reliability, and results. Our team understands that we’re dealing with real people and real lives, not just job descriptions. That mindset shows up in how we interact with both our clients and the employees we place.
Another thing that sets our brand apart is how we continuously look for innovative ways to improve employee satisfaction and retention. For example, we introduced a weekly payroll system that allowed employees to get paid every Friday before the weekend. It’s a small change, but it made a big impact — increasing retention rates by about 35%. To us, that’s what real HR innovation looks like: understanding what motivates people and adapting our systems to meet those needs.
At the end of the day, Healthcare Staffing Solution is about creating balance — helping employers grow stronger while helping employees find stability and purpose. We want readers to know that we’re not just a staffing company; we’re a partner in building better workplaces and better careers.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is people — both the employers who trust us to support their operations and the employees whose livelihoods depend on the opportunities we create. At the end of the day, staffing and HR are not just about filling positions; they’re about building stability, trust, and human connection in the workplace.
I’ve always believed that when people feel supported, they perform better, stay longer, and take pride in their work. That belief has shaped how we run our business. Every system we build, every process we improve, and every client relationship we manage comes back to that idea — that people are the foundation of everything.
Why it matters is simple: the healthcare industry, and really any industry, runs on people. Technology can automate processes, but it can’t replace compassion, reliability, or teamwork. What drives me every day is knowing that our work helps create environments where employees feel valued and organizations can deliver the best possible care or service.
For me, success isn’t just measured by revenue or growth — it’s measured by how many lives we impact in a positive way, both on the client side and the employee side. That’s what keeps me going.
