Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Robin Rise.
Hi Dr. Rise, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My prayers to be petite didn’t work. Since the 5th grade, I’ve been 5’ 11” with these too-large boobs that I didn’t want. I stand out, even when I don’t want to. There’s never been anything about me that says I’m supposed to blend in, be quiet, or play nice. I’m a change agent. A visionary. A disrupter. When the emperor has no clothes, I say so. An optimist, minus rose-colored glasses. There are big problems to solve, and I’m ready. Now it’s time to amplify my “bigness.”
I became a psychologist because it allowed me to study healing, change, and transformation. Always learning and unleveling has led me to study with amazing people across multiple disciplines. Obsessed with finding each person’s ideal tools and path to guide them to live the life they were born to live.
Now the mission is bigger. I have daughters, and the situation for women across the world is only incrementally better. Not good enough. We can tend to our children and future generations better. It’s what women do.
In these past 35 years, I’ve architected my legacy company, Woman Optimized. Using emerging technology with a new, feminine approach to business and life as we know it, we can heal what’s broken. It’s not just WHAT we do, it’s HOW and WHY we are doing it that matters. We’re creating a world where women are empowered to lead, innovate, and transform all industries AND their lives. Together we’re building something that has never existed before.
Confronting these systems that have limited women’s power, we are collectively unstoppable. Uniting and collaborating, creating a circle for all women to sit in, is more powerful than this existing hierarchy. This is more than a business model; it’s a movement.
We are not waiting any longer. As mothers, caretakers of all the world’s children and creation, we profoundly INNERstand—intuitively know—that a healthy interdependent community and individual success are inextricably linked.
Together, we are healing our global village, one woman at a time. When women have all we need, we build a longer table, not a higher fence.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I “channeled” Woman Optimized nearly 20 years ago, I had no idea what I would encounter on this journey. Because it was such a clear and obvious solution to problems women face in their lives, in their health, their careers, in society, I naively believed it would be equally obvious to everyone else.
As a Psychologist, I suppose I should have known that change is threatening, even on a social ecosystem level. Creating something that is future-oriented and that will disrupt the current system is immediately attacked. Like a virus is attacked by the immune system, anything threatening to the existing status quo is attacked, dismissed, or called crazy. Traditional hierarchical (and, may I say, patriarchal) systems are threatened by an innovative, collaborative, integrity-based, collective model that is based on excellence and effort, not money or power.
As a naive woman entrepreneur, I did not know that women only receive 2% of business funding. We are under-represented and under-supported in every system and structure in our society. Women are still paid 80% compared to men, women receive one-fourth of the screen time men get in media, and still, women’s rights remain unprotected and are currently under attack. The Equal Rights Amendment was introduced in 1972. I’m embarrassed to say that I assumed it was already ratified. It still isn’t.
Thus, I blundered into entrepreneurship only to hit the brick wall of male-dominated, old-school Milton Friedman-esque MBA training and the good old boys’ clubs. Maybe most painful was encountering the women who are steeped into maintaining the existing hierarchical corporate culture. The women trained in competition and power. The women trained to be like, think like, talk like, act like men. I understand. The only way to survive or, on rare occasions, thrive in a male system is to act within those rules. Including those unspoken rules: be willing to be abused and ignored, and dismissed. All the consultants and teams I hired for advice harkened back to some version of ‘this is not the way to do things.’ Or, better said, this is not the way WE do things.
In trying to raise capital for a future technology company (meaning-not yet invented-like AI, 3D printing, Virtual Reality), even women lead incubators and venture capital firms kindly said they needed Woman Optimized to “think niche”, that this was too big a project and to provide the (yet non-existent) technology. We wanted to partner with women lead technology teams to invent this technology. Win-win-win. WO gets the connecting technology, women in technology create it, and women benefit from a new, more feminine, and collaborative ecosystem. In essence, again, we were told we were crazy. Albeit in a much gentler, more feminine way.
After our pre-seed capital was spent on marketing and tech teams basically saying this is too costly or impossible to build or market, and after I’d spent all my money last summer, I gave up trying to fight the entrenched system and psychology.
Which is, of course, when something new shows up!

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I have daughters. I want to leave a legacy for them of hope and infinite possibility, and right now, that is not the case. In fact, it feels like we are going backwards on social and political concerns relevant to women.
What matters is bringing girls and women into empowerment in a time when the divine feminine voice is being silenced. There can be no “baby” (new creation) without equal feminine and masculine contribution. We are out of balance in today’s world and have been watching the world fall into tribalism, corruption, and distress. That’s the hierarchical, competitive, finite game of winners and losers. Instead, women understand the infinite game—where everyone wins when the game keeps going and everyone wins.
Women are the caretakers, nurturers, and guides of our “children” and the “home” (planet). We need an equal place in the world. It’s only natural.
