Hidden Gems: Meet Dr. Constance Leyland of Level Up Academy by DocLeyland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Constance Leyland.

Dr. Constance Leyland

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started as a Dean at multiple universities. I have been teaching for approximately a decade in Higher Education and 3.5 years in K-12. I have worked in the banking, finance, insurance, and real estate industry as well. During COVID, I had many International Students asking questions beyond the classroom that is not in the curriculum and asked if I could teach them how to manage their boss, the American culture of dealing with a boss who likes to take credit for their work or loves to micromanage them. I started a podcast last February to help students better understand what their professors are expecting, and professors’ interviews was about their expectations from their students and from there, my podcast has grown to six continents and 78+ nations and countries. I teach professional development courses that deals with the soft skills that universities do not teach our students.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has been a challenging process as I adjust the different courses my students need. I took a certification course from MIT instructors on instructional design and learned to teach courses that are micro-learning structures as to not overwhelm my students. Then, looking for students to take courses that are already pre-made can sometimes be difficult, so I have to create courses based on the demand of the student’s needs, but having to work full time as a director and running my business along with my podcast and livestreams is a balancing act.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I offer services to my clients by developing educational programs, including courses tailored for solopreneurs seeking to enhance their public presence and social media strategies. My focus centers on crafting courses for working professionals, with topics like effective boss management. These courses delve into four key components, each explored during a dedicated week: creative thinking, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and understanding one’s unique learning style. My specialization lies in the business and technology aspects of course creation. My academic journey comprises four degrees: a Bachelor’s in Communications, an MBA in Organizational Leadership, an MIS in Cybersecurity and Counterintelligence, and a Doctorate in Business Administration with a focus on International Business. Currently, I am actively pursuing my fifth degree, a Master’s in Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. I am known for creating community projects on LinkedIn like 50 inspirational connections on LinkedIn, and my most recent Recharge and Incharge Global Summit. What sets me apart from others is my mission, which is to level up the world through education and dedicate every waking hour to teaching and learning. I want you to know that to take courses from us won’t cost you more than $500/course, and we are going to be on TV starting in November in Roku, Apple TV, Android, Amazon Fire, YouTube and more. If you want a course not listed, ask me and I will create it specifically for your team.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The course creation and publicity trend is expanding in tandem with the rise of engaging content across various platforms, including television shows. In an era where social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube continue to dominate with nearly 7 billion monthly users combined, the significance of live streaming and podcasting is only becoming more pronounced. These dynamic mediums offer a unique avenue for individuals and businesses to connect with their audiences and share valuable insights, making them a fundamental part of the modern media landscape.
