Today we’d like to introduce you to Donzella Burton.
Hi Donzella, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
At 16 years of age, I fell in love with the wrong man and had a child at 17 which I was not ready for. I had to lean on my family and face all my fears. I became a woman and went after what I wanted. From being a teen parent grappling with high school drama (Pennsylvania) to leaving my hometown to go follow my dreams here in Baltimore of becoming a flight attendant. The dream of becoming a flight attendant never came true and that’s when I got into the Healthcare Industry in becoming an owner of several assisted living homes for the elderly.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road was not smooth as I mentioned I was a teen mom, marrying an individual that was older then I was who was involved with selling drugs.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of (2) assisted living businesses that specialize in taking care of the elderly population. I had no experience in healthcare but got introduced into this business ten years ago. The past 3-4 years, I was given the name “The Assisted Living Coach” and started The Assisted Living Coach Academy.
I help educate people on how to become successful assisted living owners.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I feel as though me having a passion for the elderly and being transparent to my audience of not only owning assisted living homes but working in them as well.
