Hidden Gems: Meet David Ifediba of EXP Realty, Power Real Estate Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Ifediba.

Hi David, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In March 2020, I moved back home due to the pandemic and grudgingly graduated online in June 2020. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UC Riverside, my initial plan was to get my Ph.D. in social psychology. However, after coming home, plans changed, and I started to work and aid my dad in our real estate business. Additionally, I discussed with my parents other careers in psychology and finally settled on educational psychology with plans to become a school psychologist. Both my parents were teachers, and I worked as an intern at the USA Stem Academy at UC Riverside, so I felt competent in working with students and being purposeful in the education space.

In June 2020, a week after graduating, I decided to begin studying for my real estate license. My dad referred me to a real estate agent he knew, and I began to shadow him for over six months. Additionally, during those six months, I worked several odd jobs. I applied for school psychology master’s programs but struggled to find my footing post-grad due to the job market during the pandemic.

Fast forward to December 2020, and I hit a low, mentally and financially. I had credit debt and student loans, was unemployed, and had just left my “dream job” as a remote research associate due to a toxic workplace. I remember laying in bed in my parent’s house, and my mom walked in and motivated me to fight for what I wanted. This gave me the spark that I needed so desperately.

That same month, I applied to work at DD’s Discounts and an Amazon Fresh Warehouse to make an income and survive my post-graduate career. I worked 18-20 hours daily between the two jobs for several months. Furthermore, I became a substitute teacher. I worked all these jobs while studying for my real estate license and interviewing for graduate school programs.

In April of 2021, I received a full ride to the CSU Long Beach School Psychology program, bought a new car, and got my real estate license, all within the same week of each other. I joined my brokerage, EXP Realty, in June 2021 and got my first listing in Compton in July 2021.

Today, I am in the second year of my school psychology graduate program, maintaining a 3.9 GPA while having done over $8,000,000 in real estate sales volume. I continue to substitute teach, work as a real estate agent, and create an impact in my National Igbo Catholic Community as the Young Adult President. I would not be where I am today without God and my parents working relentlessly toward my goals and aspirations.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has not been easy. However, I’ve remained steadfast and persistent over the past three years. I faced financial uncertainty, career decision-making, and fear of putting myself out there, especially once I became a real estate agent. One of the toughest by far is balancing being in the school psychology and real estate worlds. Both have their differences and challenges; however, I enjoy special education eligibility as much as I enjoy selling someone a house.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about EXP Realty, Power Real Estate Group?
Power Real Estate Group is an Anaheim-Based team under EXP Realty with over 200+ agents and over $1 billion in completed transactions. I joined the team in November of 2021 and immediately enjoyed the trainings and relationships that I have built with numerous agents in the office. My team leads, Joshua Siber, Jose Samano, and Jeffrey McGonigle, has been instrumental to my growth as an agent. They have challenged me to be come a better agent while being accommodating of my full-time graduate school schedule.

As a result, I am a Los Angeles-based realtor who specializes in working with first-time home buyers, investors, and sellers in making their real estate goals come to fruition. I have over three years of working in the real estate sales business as well as experience in leasing, property management, and Airbnb.
I am known for being relentless and working tirelessly to advocate for my clientele and support them during the largest transaction of their lives. I aim to make the real estate transaction smooth, fun, and educational for all parties involved.

I am proud of the Instagram reels, TikTok, and Youtube shorts I create. I enjoy doing them and look forward to making people laugh and smile during their busy days. I want everyone to know that I am committed to excellence and ensuring the deal works smoothly for all parties.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I am happiest when I am volunteering and leading in my church community, closing a deal with a client and being a role model in a school. Furthermore, I enjoy giving back and mentoring people on their real estate journey. I do everything I can to build my legacy and become a beacon of hope in my community to make my family proud.
