Hidden Gems: Meet David Antonyan of Vivid Visions Optometry, Inc

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Antonyan

Hi David, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Dr. David Antonyan O.D., and I’m a behavioral optometrist based in Valencia, CA, specializing in Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD). BVD is a condition where the eyes do not work together effectively, leading to a variety of symptoms like migraines, nausea, anxiety, dizziness, light sensitivity, double vision, and even issues like ADHD and vertigo.

My story begins with my own struggles. From a young age, I experienced symptoms of BVD, but despite multiple visits to doctors who assured me my vision was perfect and 20/20, I knew something was wrong. It wasn’t until I completed Optometry School and became a doctor myself that I was able to prescribe prism lenses to correct my vision. After about four weeks of adjusting to my new prescription, I felt a profound transformation; all my symptoms vanished, and I felt like a new person.

This personal experience ignited my passion for helping others with similar struggles. I opened Vivid Visions Optometry, Inc., where I created a comprehensive, customized hour-long evaluation process to understand my patients’ unique challenges better. My goal is to provide relief through tailored prescriptions with corrected prisms, ultimately improving their quality of life.

Over the years, my commitment to transforming my patients’ lives has allowed me to connect with individuals from around the globe, including patients flying in from Dubai, Germany, Bulgaria, France, the UK, and across the US and Canada. I’ve also expanded my practice to include in-office and Zoom Vision Therapy sessions, offering personalized exercises to enhance vision strength and function.

Through my work and social media platform, I strive to reach and support as many people as possible, sharing knowledge and resources to help others live happier, healthier lives.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, my road has not been smooth. About a year ago, after four years of working as an Optometrist at Walmart, I received some devastating news: my workplace had completely flooded due to a pipe burst. I remember standing there, looking at the ceiling that had caved in, all my equipment and computer ruined, and trash bins overflowing with water. It felt surreal and overwhelming.

I was faced with a tough decision: should I look for another job or move Vivid Visions Optometry? After a lot of thinking, I decided to take the leap and move my practice. It was a daunting prospect, knowing I was increasing my debt because of the damages, but I knew deep down that this was my chance to build something meaningful.

Starting over was challenging, but it also made me more resilient. It reignited my passion for providing the best care for my patients, which had always been my dream. Despite the difficulties, I couldn’t be happier with my decision. This experience has shaped my journey in ways I never expected, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to create a practice that truly reflects my commitment to helping others.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Vivid Visions Optometry, Inc?
