Today we’d like to introduce you to Connor Hance.
Hi Connor, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up a competitive tennis player and played college tennis for UCLA. My parents ran a tennis club in the South Bay, so that’s how I got started. After I graduated, I started playing professional pickleball and to make money, I coached tennis and pickleball at my parent’s facility. I had always wanted to be an entrepreneur, so I decided at this point that I should start a pickleball brand. I wanted to differentiate, so I chose training aids because I thought that there was an open market opportunity there. I also went deep into making content since I felt that organic content was the future of brand building. Around six months into it, I brought on my former teammate at UCLA, Drew Baird to be my business partner and head of content. At this point, we are focused on scaling the brand and are looking to head into new markets.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have launched many failed products and run into multiple crisis situations. Despite this, we have persevered and are ready for more challenges to come.
We’ve been impressed with Enhance Pickleball, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a content-focused Pickleball equipment brand that differentiates by focusing exclusively on training aid products. We have the largest social media following of any pickleball brand.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
We definitely got lucky getting into one of the fastest-growing sports early.
