Hidden Gems: Meet Christine Peake of peakPRgroup

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Peake

Hi Christine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I founded peakPRgroup in 2008, a full service PR firm specializing in red carpet events, brands, charities and celebrities.

I also have been successfully been doing stand up comedy for over 3 years appearing at the Comedy Store, Laugh Factory and Hollywood Improv- I recently was given a residency at the Hotel Ziggy in West Hollywood called ‘Cheeky Peakey’s’. I produce and perform at my sold out shows with A list talent and we feature a charity for each show.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
PR and comedy are both extremely competitive. Balancing both can be difficult at times but the good thing is I am always guaranteed PR for my shows.
PR has seen a dramatic shift over the past few years, for example the trend of “influencers” put a noticeable dent in clients requesting top grade magazines for thousands of dollars and opting to pay a hundreds dollars to an influencer, although many are credible and talented – many of which have bought followers. Also with the current financial climate clients do not have the money to spend like they did a few years ago and brands are as willing to pay as much for too sponsorship opportunities.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about peakPRgroup?
peakPRgroup represents talent (actors/singers/authors) and brands also and is known for producing first class events. The good thing about covering all the bases is that it isn’t uncommon for me to have my talent walking my red carpet at my event whilst drinking a brand I work with such as ONEHOPE wine or Aquahydrate water. I like to call us a one stop shop!

What does success mean to you?
I always say PR stands for Personal Relationships as opposed to Public Relations. I have the same clients and press contacts for many years. I also think it is important to always give back to a charity whenever possible. I always incorporate a charity in my events and my comedy shows. I have several awards from the American Red Cross and work with the amazing Vet Tix charity for my comedy shows at the Hotel Ziggy. The last show I did was totally sold out and many of the audience were Veterans. It was an amazing experience. SNL legend Darrell Hammond donated his time and comedians Chris Kidder, Matt Grisat and Luis Noriega ( all talented comedians and veterans) performed – Scottish singer Erin Gavin. performed and it was a very special night. It wasn’t just a comedy show, it was a tribute – something magic happened. I was very moved by it. So I truly think going the extra mile is important. I am also a perfectionist and a workaholic. I think it’s all in ‘the details’ and certainly never ‘dial it in’ when it comes
to work or a show. A 12-15 hour work day isn’t unusual for me. I also write for a couple of publications so when everyone has gone home I will start editing red carpet photos and writing press releases and articles. I also think self care is important- I workout with one of my clients called ‘Shut Up And Move’ and get regular facials at Tikkun Spa in Santa Monica
