Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris & Jonathan Lopez.
Hi Chris & Jonathan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We started photography in 2017. We had just picked up a camera during black Friday sales with the thought of occasionally taking pictures at family events or trips just for fun. We were asked to photograph a family member during their pregnancy as a favor. Our family member then started telling co-workers and close friends about how much she loved their photos, and then their friends started reaching out to us asking if we would be available to photograph their family. Not having any experience as a photographer, we started digging deep into the internet, or as we tell our clients now, we went to ” YouTube university” to find as many tips as possible to become better knowledgeable about how to best use a camera and how to compose a photo correctly. Little by little, we saw how more and more people were interested in us photographing their special moments in life, so we took the step of creating a social media page on Instagram, “Take Two Photos.” It was just a side thing we would do as we were still college students, working on graduating and attaining our license as pharmacy technicians. Fast forward to 2020, we finished our schooling, and we were stuck on making the decision if we would follow our career as pharmacy technicians or chase what we truly enjoyed and fully commit as full-time photographers. The decision was made, and we have not looked back since. We are truly blessed to be able to do a job we not only love but have so much fun doing. Always meeting new people, traveling to different beautiful places, and being able to capture lifelong memories for others to treasure and keep forever.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of struggles when starting off we had were just simply getting our foot into the photography side of business. It’s very competitive, with so many people all over the world also trying to make a career out of it. And finding or building up the clientele and a reputation for us was a bit difficult. But once we began to get more and more clientele, it became a little easier for us to get our work out there for others.
As you know, we’re big fans of Take Two Photography. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize in wedding, couple, and engagement photography. We love telling love stories. We have always been very timid people, so we understand being in front of a camera isn’t always the easiest thing to do, especially when you’re not a professional model or tend to be camera shy. We take pride in making each session feel easy and comfortable as we guide and direct everyone through every single pose. We tell our clients about 70% of our clients have not had professional pictures taken before, so it’s intimidating seeing our posts thinking oh ya, I can’t look like that when, in reality, they said the same thing. We make it fun and enjoyable and, most importantly, comfortable for each of our clients, whether it’s your first time or a returning client!
