Hi Camille, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve played tennis my whole life and have found amazing friends through different tennis groups in LA, but when I looked for a similar Pickleball community, I couldn’t find one. So, I decided to try to create one myself! It started as a small group for my friends and quickly grew as I started posting on instagram. Our first event was in April this year, and since then, we’ve sold out every event and tournament, some within a few hours! We’ve started partnering with some amazing brands and over the past few months I’ve gotten to meet so many wonderful and fun people along the way. We couldn’t be more grateful for the support and community that pickleball has given us and we’re excited to bring people together in new cities as we grow!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes and no. Fortunately, pickleball is a rapidly growing and popular sport, so many people are eager to connect and make their pickleball journey more social. We’ve been fortunate to build such a lively community so quickly! However, we’ve faced challenges in making sure we have a range of events and partnerships that appeal to everyone. I’m fortunate to have a great team to bounce ideas off of with Corliss leading photography and Erik handling operations.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Pickle N Tequila is a pickleball community based in LA, offering a variety of events including Happy Hours on a private pickleball court, Beginner Clinics, and Speed Dating Pickleball Tournaments.
I’m particularly proud of our Speed Dating Tournaments, because they provide a unique and active way to meet other singles without any of the awkwardness. Players rotate partners after each game, allowing them to meet multiple people throughout the evening. After the tournament, we continue the fun at a local bar, making it a full night of meeting new people.
Our Happy Hour events are also a must, with a focus more on the social aspect and meeting new people with similar interests. We’ve partnered with some incredible brands to provide the best cocktails and drinks, creating a fun atmosphere filled with pickleball and amazing people.
Beginner Clinics are another favorite of mine! Our Beginner Clinics are perfect for those who have never played pickleball before. We start with the absolute basics, creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere for learning. Our clinics are held on a stunning rooftop court in Beverly Hills and after the clinic we hang by the pool bar for an after pickleball drink!
All of our events are open to those who want to connect and make new friends! The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and everyone is just looking to meet new people and have a good time.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Instagram has been a valuable platform for me to connect with numerous creatives and brands, many of whom I ended up partnering with. I also will actively approach brands for potential event collaborations. The worst outcome is simply a “No,” so I’m definitely putting myself out there and taking my chances. It’s all part of the process!
