Today we’d like to introduce you to Biggest Little Zine Fair.
Hi Biggest Little, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Biggest Little Zine Fair began as a conversation between Chris Giaco (Page Against the Machine) and Ra Avis (Rarasaur) about reinvigorating the Long Beach zine community—while honoring the city’s uniquely neighborly energy. With the support of co-founders Evan Chelsee (Uncommon Practice Studio), Ng (AttoZines), and Theron James (No Pulp Poetry Club), the idea quickly grew into a vibrant gathering of zine makers from around the world.
What started as a local meet-up has evolved into a twice-a-year fair featuring hundreds of makers, along with a once-a-year virtual pop-up market, seasonal trinket and zine swaps, and accessible, all-level zine workshops offered throughout the year. The team now also includes Joshua P. Stroder.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Mostly! The biggest challenges have come from the overwhelming wave of support and participation. We were originally excited to feature 20 zine makers in one space— now we’ve featured hundreds! We thought 40 friends might come by to browse and hang out, but Long Beach has shown up by the hundreds, every single time. There’s been a lot of growth and learning along the way, and we’ve felt deeply honored and supported by the makers and patrons who’ve been so patient with our learning curves.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Biggest Little Zine Fair?
Biggest Little Zine Fair is a community-rooted, artist-run zine fair based in Long Beach, California. We specialize in making zine culture accessible, inclusive, and celebratory. Our fairs highlight independent voices from around the world, with an emphasis on community engagement and intentional care. We’re best known for our curated fairs that prioritize first-time tablers and makers, and underrepresented zine makers.
We host two in-person fairs a year, a virtual pop-up market, and regular community events like trinket and zine swaps. We also offer all-level zine-making workshops to help people start or grow their practice—many of which are free or sliding-scale to keep them accessible.
Our brand isn’t just about zines. It’s about cultivating a sustainable, welcoming space where creativity, care, and community intersect. We’re most proud of the way Long Beach has shown up for this fair and how our community has helped it grow into something global. Whether you’re a first-time maker or a longtime collector, we want folks to know there’s space for you here.
