Hidden Gems: Meet Ashinee (Ash) Reynolds of Modern Day Wellness Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashinee (Ash) Reynolds

Hi Ashinee (Ash), we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My Story
It’s always fascinating to reflect on how we arrive at the places we are, and for me, it’s been a journey of resilience, growth, and service. My name is Ashinee “Ash” Reynolds, and I’m the founder of Modern Day Wellness Group, a health and wellness company dedicated to helping individuals thrive—particularly in the realm of mental health. But my story didn’t start with a wellness business; it started with overcoming challenges.
I was born in California to an immigrant father who came to the U.S. seeking new opportunities, and my mother hails from Missouri. So, naturally, they met here in Los Angeles. Life wasn’t always easy. At the age of 8, my parents divorced, and like many others, I faced obstacles that made people doubt whether I’d even finish high school. But I’m not the type to let others define my path. I sought out mentors, resources, and stayed relentless in my pursuit of education. That resilience led me to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from California State University Northridge and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. I also gained invaluable experience working with leading institutions like UCLA Health, where I learned the depth of human experience and the importance of community in healing.
During high school and throughout my undergraduate years, I worked at commercial gyms and fitness centers, teaching fitness classes. This experience gave me a deep appreciation for wellness and a firsthand understanding of how physical health intersects with mental health. After earning my degree, I worked at UCLA Health and also at a mega church, where I observed something significant: the admin staff, nurses, physicians, and clergy all devoted their time and energy to helping others—but often at the cost of their own well-being. Many of them struggled with fatigue and burnout, which led me to focus my work on compassion fatigue, stress management, and burnout prevention.
Seeing how these caregivers, whether in healthcare or religious settings, were affected by the very challenges they sought to help others overcome inspired me to specialize in providing support for those in high-stress professions. This realization led to the founding of Modern Day Wellness Group, where I now host workshops, seminars, and provide one-on-one coaching focused on mental health, resilience, and managing compassion fatigue.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to speak at many events, from professional development seminars for healthcare providers to grief support workshops for those impacted by the fires in California. I’ve also had the honor of providing a compassion fatigue workshop at Harvard University and leading sessions on how to build closer relationships with children and teens at various churches. In addition, I’ve spoken on how to cope with anxiety and depression, and I’ve encouraged countless children to embrace the importance of self-esteem and self-advocacy. Most recently, I was a guest on a podcast discussing how pastors can take care of their mental and physical health. We’ve also been working tirelessly to provide mental health resources for individuals affected by the fires in Los Angeles, offering practical tools for mental wellness to a community that’s been through so much. It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience to share insights and offer support across different sectors and populations, making a meaningful impact wherever I can.
One of the most rewarding parts of my journey has been the opportunity to create programs and support systems for those who need it most. Whether it’s hosting wellness luncheons for the elderly in Altadena or leading grief support groups, my goal has always been to make mental health resources accessible and impactful. The most recent event I coordinated for the elderly in Altadena, featuring a luncheon and wellness seminar, stands as a perfect example of the kind of work I’m passionate about. It wasn’t easy—it took phone calls, emails, and constant coordination—but the outcome was worth it. Moments like those are a reminder that when we come together, we can make real change.
I also believe in the power of youth and have had the privilege of speaking to high school students about the importance of believing in themselves and focusing on self-esteem. I’ve seen firsthand how a positive mindset and strong sense of self can change lives. It’s inspiring to witness students take that message to heart and carry it with them into their future.
A key turning point in my entrepreneurial journey was a marketing class through LEEAF, where I was encouraged to share my story. That one post led to speaking engagements at Clearview Treatment Center and Amen Clinics, and it snowballed into the opportunity to offer grief support for residents in Altadena. The power of community and connection is something I hold dear, and it’s what has propelled my business forward.
Today, Modern Day Wellness Group isn’t just about providing workshops; it’s about making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. It’s about providing mental health resources, tackling burnout, and giving people the tools they need to navigate stress and adversity. But none of this would be possible without the mentors, community support, and opportunities I’ve had along the way. It’s the combination of personal growth, perseverance, and community collaboration that has helped me build the work I do today.
If there’s one message I want to leave behind, it’s this: you can’t pour from an empty cup. The work I do is about helping others be at their best, whether it’s healthcare providers managing burnout, families navigating grief, or individuals learning to set boundaries. In the end, it’s about creating spaces where people feel supported, seen, and empowered to thrive.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No journey is ever completely smooth, and mine has certainly come with its fair share of challenges. One of the biggest obstacles I’ve faced is establishing a permanent space for my wellness initiatives. As a mobile business, I travel to various locations—clinics, businesses, community centers, churches, and more—which allows me to meet people where they are and bring support directly to those who need it. However, not having a permanent physical location presents its own set of difficulties, from logistical challenges to ensuring that each event space is appropriately set up for the workshops and seminars I lead.
Another challenge I’ve encountered is my commitment to offering plant-based food options at my events. While I strongly believe in the power of plant-based nutrition for mental and physical wellness, sourcing and providing these food options at each event can be difficult. There’s a lot of coordination involved, whether it’s ensuring that the food meets dietary preferences, managing vendors, or working within specific event budgets. But I feel it’s worth the effort, as it aligns with my mission to promote holistic wellness, and it’s always rewarding to see people embrace new ideas about health.
Additionally, like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced the normal hurdles of building a business from the ground up—balancing the responsibilities of running a business, marketing my services, and ensuring that every event I host delivers impactful, transformative content. The uncertainty of starting and growing a business can feel overwhelming at times, but the passion I have for helping others and the positive feedback from those I’ve been able to help keeps me going.
Despite these challenges, every obstacle has been a lesson, pushing me to grow and adapt. It’s made me more resourceful and creative, and each challenge has ultimately helped shape Modern Day Wellness Group into what it is today.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a mix of determination, curiosity, and a love for connecting with others. Even as a child, I loved being in the spotlight and making people laugh. I remember taking on the role of making announcements at my elementary school after my parents divorced, which meant I had to get there early. It was a responsibility I took seriously, but it also helped me develop a love for performance and being in front of people. I’ve always been a social person, and I had a knack for making friends easily, which helped me feel connected to others despite personal challenges.
I also loved getting involved in activities and taking on leadership roles. I signed up for Safety Patrol, which was something I took to heart—keeping everyone safe was a priority for me. I was on the swim team and also became the captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. Both experiences helped me learn the importance of leading by example and collaborating with others, whether they were fellow team captains, teachers, or community leaders. Those roles taught me not just to lead but to work as part of a team to create something bigger than myself.
I had a playful side, too. I enjoyed playing pranks and finding ways to make people laugh—it was my way of spreading joy. But beyond the fun, I always had a deep curiosity about learning and growing. I loved talking to people, learning from their experiences, and expanding my understanding of the world. Whether it was in a classroom, at a community event, or just in casual conversation, I was always eager to absorb new ideas and share them with others.
All of these experiences from my childhood, from the leadership roles to my love of learning and connecting with people, set the foundation for the work I do today. They shaped my passion for wellness, service, and resilience, which continues to drive me in everything I do.
