Hidden Gems: Meet Ariane Sommer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariane Sommer.

Ariane Sommer

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a published author, plant-based biohacker, podcast host and wellness entrepreneur. Throughout my life, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to grow up in various countries, immersing myself in diverse cultures and gaining a global perspective on the opportunities as well as challenges faced by individuals and our collective human family. Born into a diplomatic household in Germany, I moved to West Africa when I was eight weeks old, which started my life’s global adventure. I spent my childhood in Sierra Leone, India, Spain, Germany and the US, and in my late teens and early twenties, I lived and studied in Berlin and London before moving to Los Angeles. These experiences instilled a deep appreciation in me for the many vibrant cultures, customs, traditions and perspectives spanning our globe, as well as the wisdom that different societies offer. I have come to realize that despite our apparent differences, we are all interconnected, and that we share a common thread that unites us in this incredibly vast tapestry of existence. It has helped me to embrace diversity while also recognizing our oneness and it has instilled in me the deep desire to contribute to creating a global family built on understanding, love and compassion.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Most people’s journeys are marked by some obstacles and challenges and so has mine, but these ultimately have shaped me into the person I am today. Embracing constant change as I was growing up and adapting to new environments and cultures was both a blessing and a challenge. Moving from one country to another meant that I repeatedly had to redefine my sense of belonging and adjust to unfamiliar surroundings. This sometimes left me feeling uprooted, but it also fast-tracked my personal growth and helped hone my ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Additionally, being one of the first females in the field of veganism and biohacking back in the day came with its fair share of challenges. Ten plus years ago, introducing these concepts to a broader audience and questioning societal norms required perseverance. Overcoming skepticism and resistance from those who were initially uncomfortable with change was not always easy. I learned that reaching out my hand instead of pointing my finger at others, living by example and sharing the transformative power of my practices and philosophy was the best way to create a positive and lasting impact.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Superhumanize / SprayLabs / Gateway Sciences?
My work encompasses various endeavors, all aimed at helping individuals unlock their full potential. As the host of The Superhumanize Podcast, I have the privilege of interviewing global thought leaders in health, personal development, business, biohacking, social activism, science, and spirituality on a weekly basis. By sharing their wisdom and insights, I hope to empower my listeners to live their best lives ever.

I am also an author and have enjoyed writing columns and articles for notable European publications such as TAZ, Die Welt, and Welt am Sonntag. In addition, I published non-fiction as well as fiction books, the latter focused on female empowerment, sexual and spiritual agency. In my work as a writer, I love to explore pressing political, social, and cultural issues in order to shed light on them with the hope of inspiring meaningful dialogue. I believe in the power of words and have used my writing to advocate for causes I deeply care about. At heart, I am a storyteller.

I am also a passionate wellness entrepreneur. My husband Clay and I own a supplement manufacturing company called SprayLabs together with our partner, the phenomenal biochemist Dr. Clive Spray. SprayLabs is a full-service nutraceutical supplement manufacturer and we offer spray, tincture and powder supplements. Two of our own brands are Dr. Spray’s oral spray supplements as well as Gateway Wellness, the latter of which is part of another company of ours, Gateway Sciences. Gateway Sciences has a strong focus on psychedelic therapy and holistic wellness via our research and development arm, as well as our GATEWAY Clinic on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica, where we offer longevity treatments such as NAD+ and vitamin infusions, as well as mental health focused treatments such as Ketamine IV Therapy.

I am constantly seeking innovative ways to optimize the mind, body, and spirit. Drawing from ancient teachings and cutting-edge science, I have developed holistic approaches to well-being that encompass nutrition, biohacking techniques, and spiritual practices, which inform all my business as well as private endeavors. I am soon launching my own supplement line and am very excited about this next step. Additionally, through my website and personal coaching, I guide individuals toward achieving their highest potential in all aspects of their lives.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Throughout my journey, I have learned profound lessons that have shaped my perspective and fueled my passion for personal growth. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the importance of embracing change and stepping out of my comfort zone. By willingly embracing new experiences and confronting challenges head-on, I have discovered strength and resilience within myself that I never knew I had and it has helped make my life rich and meaningful and full of adventure. I have also discovered the transformative power of self-care and holistic well-being. Nurturing our mind, body, and spirit is essential for leading a fulfilling and purpose-driven life. Through my exploration of healing through ancient teachings and modern technologies, I have witnessed the profound impact that prioritizing our well-being can have on every aspect of our lives.
