Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Thomas.
Hi Anthony, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As the youngest of 4 children (from oldest to youngest; Sister, Brother, Brother, Me), whose parents smoked cigarettes but despised that they smoked cigarettes, and whose older brothers were multi-sport athletes, there was a strong need to compete, adapt, and level up if there was any chance to hang out with the older kids. The cool kids.
Both brothers broke school records in baseball, football, and track & field years before I even stepped foot into a classroom at that same school. Talk about pressure to live up to expectations. Lucky for me, just a year before freshman year, I found the great game of Golf. Unlucky for me, I was the first in my family to play the game so I had absolutely nobody to look up to, ask for help, get guidance or even just point me in a relatively good direction. So with no footsteps to follow, what do you do? You look everywhere to find the patterns that are most likely to work.
I looked at all the other sports I’d had success in and what my brothers both succeeded in; baseball, basketball, football, and track & field. I looked at my past, at their past. I looked at other athletes who were the best in their fields. Every day my parents would take me to the golf course and smoke several cigarettes before dropping me off for hours on end. These were some of the most monumental times of my life for two reasons.
First, I faced failure every, single, day. Anyone who has hit more than 10 golf balls in life knows what I mean. That wasn’t the worst feeling of failure though. The worst failure was the constant attempts to help my parents quit smoking. This was the chapter of my life that led me to pursue knowledge of my own desires rather than just following the curriculum assigned by the school. I began studying human psychology to learn how to help people, with the ultimate hope to convince my parents to quit cigarettes. Book after book, video after video, class after class, I repeatedly failed at convincing them. This was where my hunger for human optimization and the deep desire to help people grew deep roots.
Second, the desire to succeed and improve in life carried over directly from one sport to the next and none more than in golf. With relatively minimal resources, I had what I now know to be the most important resource; desire & willingness to take action. So I played all day, watched golf channel all night, and learned how to play golf by watching, learning, and applying patterns.
This ability to develop pattern recognition & deep desire to help people improve their lives was the combination that has led me to Life Coaching. I’ve traveled the world competing in Long Drive Golf finishing 17th in the World Championship, and entertaining and raising more than $300,000 to date for charities using my abilities in golf. I’ve modeled in global campaigns for the largest brands in their industry from Nike to Bose and acted in national commercials. Through all of the experiences around some success, none fulfills me or my purpose more than when I’m able to help my next coaching client break through their limitations. The greatest thrill for me is watching what happens when I help someone who has felt stuck in one or more areas of their life level up, unlock the pattern and increase their capacity in life. If you keep doing what you’ve been doing, where will your life be in 1 year from now?
Where might your life be with the dedicated and educated guidance of a coach?
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road has not been smooth, but the most scenic trips can be found off-road.
One of the greatest struggles I experienced was the lack of understanding that those who do not want to be helped, cannot be reached. This lesson came from literally more than a decade of trying to help some of my friends and some of my family to level up their lives, only to repeatedly be let down by their lack of desire or efforts to participate in the same dream of improvement.
The feeling of what most call “Imposter Syndrome” was a literal daily dose of my experience throughout years of learning, trying, and applying methods that always worked for me but not the circle I wanted to help most. That lesson finally came to be absorbed when I began helping folks who genuinely wanted to help themselves and just needed support. It’s painful and confusing for our help and expertise to be denied by the ones closest to us.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
You know that feeling you get when you look at your bank accounts, or you see someone living that life you dream of and something inside you is full of two things: (1) hope that you’ll get there someday, and (2) fear that you’ll never even come close? Well, I work with you to make those dreams real things in your life. There are patterns to success in every industry and idea but we aren’t always the most equipped to see or implement them in our own lives. We all have blind spots. This is why I have a coach and will always have a coach.
When you are stuck in your income level, your small business growth or launch, your fitness, your belief in your own abilities, and what capacity you have; I am here to show you what’s possible. Not to sit and dream, but to show and plan with you. Some of my clients need nothing more than an accountability partner. Others need strong tools and tactics to get them going with their desired project. Whatever the need is, I always show up as your hype man with a game plan!
There’s more to it than luck when clients share things like, “Working with Anthony led to me tripling my income in less than a year!”; “Anthony helped me break through a fog and find a clear path to my personal and financial goals”; “Anthony helped me find my true reasons for my passion and focus more on what matters to me”; “After struggling with clinical depression and being a prisoner of the habits created during those times, Anthony provided the rope to start pulling myself out. He did not pull me out, but more importantly, helped me figure out how to do it myself”.
Patterns produce results. We just need to make sure we are using the best pattern for what results in we are after.
I offer a 3-month coaching series that includes weekly calls, resources, and measurable results. How will you know if your coach is successful or not? You have to have results you can measure. That’s established at the start.
A chemistry call is always free and that’s where we find out more about each other, about my coaching, and whether we will be a good fit for each other or not.
Stop waiting and hoping. Take action with your life and get a proper plan with a coach who can see the blindspots you are unable to!
