Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Margaryan.
Hi Anna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My background was in the beauty industry initially. Then I started managing Peak Wellness in Beverly Hills and was hit hard with Post-Partum Depression. It was months after I had my son and that left me extremely confused and scared. I could not explain what I was feeling, nor did I know that could happen so long after giving birth. My friends started taking me to Korean Spas. The treatment was amazing! I’m not saying it was a cure all- but for the duration of being in water- the touch- it was like nothing mattered just for a moment; I was just existing, Traditionally Korean Spas are very shared space, I started thinking about how I would want this treatment in privacy. Pools and baths are very difficult to keep clean and the space automatically gets a very lingering chemical scent from the water cleaning products, so I looked into the Vichy Shower. The Vichy shower was made for horses, but when the men went off to war women used it to promote blood circulation. I wanted products curated for each person; I wanted robes available from XS-4XL instead of a one size fits all. That’s when I put a board of people I love and trust together, told them I didn’t invent the wheel body scrubs exist in so many cultures, but here is my vision. That is how Pellequr came to be.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has not been a smooth one. We had a soft opening in December 2018 and fully operating beginning of 2019. About a year into business, we got news that there is a pandemic and we must close for two weeks. That two weeks turned into eight months! For a one-year-old business to close for so many months was rough. The world was in fear; no one knew what was going to happen next.
Other than the Pellequr Spa Experience, what can you tell us about the brand?
We produced many products on how to take the spa home and create a moment for yourself in your own space. Pellequr was created on the concept of just having a moment to yourself. We extended that to self-care at home because so many people were cooped up with their family members in one space for so long it was important to have some time to yourself even if it was a shower with some spa products. Every product that is used during our treatments can be purchased through our online store to recreate your own Pellequr Experience.
As you know, we’re big fans of Pellequr Body. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Pellequr is a woman only Korean Spa in Beverly Hills. We are known for our Pellequr Body Treatment. It is a 75-minute treatment between you and the massage therapist working on you in a private room. The woman preps your skin under hot water with the Vichy shower, followed by a full body Korean scrub, hair wash and condition, ending with a full body lymphatic massage.
