Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Ho.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my eyelash extension journey as I was preparing to apply for law school. Working in the beauty industry was supposed to be a flexible part-time job, but turned into a career that I am passionate about. Being a lash artist doesn’t only consist of gluing lashes onto a client, but also being able to create and build relationships with my clients and making them feel confident within themselves. My goal was to open my own business and I’m happy to announce the opening of Sora Beauty Studio earlier this year after 5 years of being in the industry.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business and learning a new skill that I had absolutely no experience in was definitely a learning curve. I remember wanting to quit a couple of months in and thought that I had made the wrong decision by choosing owning my own business over law school, but as I tell my students, “You can only do better with practice and hard work. It’s quite nearly impossible to do worse if you’re putting effort into it.”
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Sora Beauty currently specializes in eyelash extension services, eyelash extension training and education, and soon to be a supplier in eyelash extension products. We hope to expand our services within this year in offering other beauty services such as nails and semi-permanent makeup. Here at Sora Beauty, we focus on empowering women in helping them feel confident waking up in the mornings. Sora Beauty is exclusively known for long-lasting fluffy volume lashes. As we focus on each client individually, we tailor to their needs and eye shapes as they are not all the same, making each client leave happy with their results.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The lash industry has been rapidly growing in recent years. With that comes an increase in demand, so in the future I see more jobs becoming available. As an educator, I have students coming from Riverside, smaller towns in Texas and Arizona, etc. where the lash community isn’t as developed yet in creating the styles we have here in Orange County. I hope to expand and hold lash courses in smaller towns to expose them to our styles one day so that clients won’t have to travel far into bigger cities to get lash services done.
