Hidden Gems: Meet Angelica Trae of AyyTrae

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Trae.

Hi Angelica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started off streaming for fun after I graduated college. I was working an office job up in the Bay Area at the time and it was such a drastic lifestyle change for me. I thought it might be nice to have a fun hobby on the side. I ended up connecting with so many people online, I was inspired to move to LA to keep live streaming and pursue a career in hosting (especially within the geek space)!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! But I’ve never been one to pursue what comes easily. As a streamer, tech issues are constant, as well as the ever-present pressure of working until you burn out. When you’re your own boss and setting your own schedule, it’s easy to get caught up and work over 40 hours per week by accident!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a full-time live streamer, geek host, and content creator based out of LA. My streaming platform is Twitch, where I’ve been partnered for over two years now.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
HUGE SHIFTS! When 2020 went into quarantine, the public focus shifted heavily towards live streaming. I’ve had so many people messaging that they started streaming in that year and need advice. Since then, I’ve also noticed a change in how people view my work. There’s a lot more respect for it now. I think the industry will grow and content will diversify even more, while I’m hoping more business opportunities will open up with companies. I’d love to get sponsored by media companies to talk more within the geek space!
