Hi Angelica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, my name is Angelica Olguin. I am 32 years old and have been in the beauty industry since 2010. I was born and raised in East Los Angeles, where I would see my mom do at-home services like perms and haircuts as a kid. From there, my interest started, and when I graduated high school, I enrolled in beauty school. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work in various salons. I started off as commission, then renting a chair, to owning a salon for 5 years. Now, I am working in an independent luxury suite.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have been in the beauty industry for a long time and have learned that it is very easy to burn out. I was a salon owner for 5 years, where I managed the ins and outs of the business while also being a full-time stylist. Working behind the chair with my clients was the reason why I started in this industry. After being behind the chair for so many years, I was fortunate to have a great clientele following but felt that the business side of it was taking me away from what I am most passionate about. At times, I felt like I was losing my relationship with my clients because I was overwhelmed by trying to accommodate to everything. I found that all of these factors started to take a toll on my passion for my craft. These struggles made me take a step back and reevaluate what I needed to do to get my spark back. Therefore, I chose a different setting that allows me to focus on my craft behind the chair and not be so consumed by the business side of it. I am now proudly working in a luxury suite where I can say that I have found my passion again.

Glam by Angie started because I believe in holistic beauty and customer satisfaction. I pride myself with providing great luxury service, and I also guarantee the use of great quality products. My suite thrives to maintain a modern and relaxed ambiance while also being a safe space for all. I feel like my experience has allowed me to master by craft, and I am able to accommodate more clients. I specialize in blonding/balayage, color, and hair extensions. I also do bridal/special occasions hairstyles.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is customer satisfaction. I strive to give my clients their expectations, and it is great to see their reaction when they are done with their hair transformation.
