Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Zinsmeister
Hi Amber, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in a small town in southern Michigan, where a close connection to nature and a simple lifestyle shaped my early years. Nearly 20 years ago, I made a significant move to Los Angeles, which opened up a world of new opportunities and experiences.
My journey into the wellness world began when I discovered yoga while living in Chicago for a few year. This practice had a profound impact on my life, leading me to explore deeper aspects of health and well-being and how it personally benefitted my life. Years later while working at a cancer institute in LA, I found that my background in the wellness world opened new doors for me to help others. It was here that I discovered sound bath therapy, a modality that resonated deeply with me and allowed me to support people in a unique and healing way.
Sound bath therapy became a powerful tool for helping individuals navigate their recovery and find inner peace. It’s been incredibly fulfilling to integrate this practice into my work, offering a distinctive and beneficial form of support.
Over the past decade, my travels have further enriched my perspective, exposing me to diverse cultures and deepening my connections with people from around the world. Reflecting on my journey—from small-town roots to exploring wellness practices and working with individuals in need—I’m grateful for how these experiences have shaped my life and enabled me to make a meaningful impact on others.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, but each challenge has been a valuable learning experience. When I discovered yoga, I was living in Chicago during a brutal winter polar vortex and struggling with severe depression. It was a tough time, filled with both emotional and physical pain, which led me to feel disconnected from myself.
Attending my first hot yoga class was a pivotal moment. The intense heat and mindful practice brought about a profound shift—both physically and emotionally. For the first time, I experienced a sense of release and clarity that significantly alleviated my depression. This transformation underscored the importance of wellness in my life and ignited my deep commitment to this field.
Despite the progress, I still face challenges and occasionally forget to prioritize my own well-being. These ongoing struggles serve as reminders of the lessons I’ve learned and continue to learn about resilience and self-care. Each challenge has reinforced my belief in the importance of staying grounded and mindful.
These experiences have shaped my approach to helping others, allowing me to bring a deeper understanding and empathy to my work in sound bath therapy and beyond. The difficulties I’ve faced have been crucial in guiding me toward my passion for wellness and in honing my ability to support others effectively.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sound By Amber?
My company is called Sound By Amber, and I specialize in providing transformative sound bath sessions designed to promote healing in the mind, body, and soul. My journey in this field focuses on helping individuals who have faced significant challenges, including those recovering from cancer, stroke, and substance abuse, as well as people experiencing burnout.
I’m particularly passionate about bridging the gap between wellness practices and the medical field, as I believe in creating a holistic healing experience for participants. My sound baths offer a calming space where individuals can reconnect with themselves and find solace in the soothing power of sound.
I find joy in the feedback I receive from clients, who often share how these sessions have not only helped them cope with their struggles but also fostered a deeper sense of peace and well-being. What sets me apart from others in this field is my unwavering commitment to raising awareness about the profound benefits of sound healing. I aim to illustrate how simply taking a moment to be still, listen, and receive can truly transform lives. My goal is to inspire others to explore the healing possibilities of sound and to incorporate this practice into their own wellness journeys.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I don’t have a specific moment that stands out as my favorite, but my favorite childhood memory is definitely growing up in the country. There was something truly magical about those days spent barefoot, feeling the grass and dirt beneath my feet. I loved the freedom of exploring the outdoors, climbing trees, and simply being immersed in nature.
I didn’t fully appreciate how significant growing up in the country was until recently. Now, I find myself craving that same connection to nature more than ever. Whenever I’m out on a hike or near the beach, it feels like I’m transported back to my childhood. That sensation of being grounded with the earth beneath me brings such peace and happiness. It’s a powerful reminder of where I come from and the profound joy that simple moments in nature can bring.
