Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Gutierrez.
Hi Alexandra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in Weehawken, NJ, currently living in Los Angeles, and I have always had the passion to express myself creatively through all avenues whether it was cooking, marketing, design, etc. I have been through many different career paths in my life and at 30 still felt as if I was doing myself an injustice by continuing to work for someone else at a 9-5pm that didn’t bring any joy to me, I knew I had so much more to offer. I was at a point in my life where I felt completely stuck with no way out.
I sat with my boyfriend and asked him, what am I good at? That is usually the best way to get honest feedback- ask someone dear to you what they see you being good at. He immediately said SAUCE! At first, I thought, ‘Well, I do make a great sauce.. but the market is oversaturated.” That thought quickly left when I thought back to my journey with sauce in general and how long I have been perfecting the recipe for. It all goes back to cooking in the kitchen with my Cuban native mom and getting a feel for all different flavors and spices. For me, every time I would purchase a sauce in store, there was ALWAYS something missing and I found myself having to add a bunch of ingredients every time until I got the perfect taste. I have been running with that knowledge ever since and soon Madam Rustica was born!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Things are not always as simple as you imagine! Getting a business up and running takes a lot of work, research and organization. Luckily I have always been organized so it just took a lot of positive thinking and consistency. It is easy for us to get wrapped up in our own thoughts which can decrease motivation. Believing in yourself is most important because if you do not believe in yourself, who will? Anyone can be successful if you just set your mind to it!

Madam Rustica specializes in producing creative, flavorful blended sauces made with all fresh ingredients, love, and no preservatives. What sets us apart from other sauces is being health conscious about what ingredients go into our bodies. We want to make cooking easy and fun yet nutritional for the body and soul.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I may seem to have a harder exterior to some but inside, I am full of love and an old romantic soul. I just want peace, love, good food, and happiness for all.
