Hi Alexa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to California from Upstate New York in 2013. At the time, I was working a corporate job and loved getting mystic spray tans. Over the years I realized I hated the smell of tanning chemicals and the uneven color patches on my skin after I got out of the booth. In 2016, I decided to find a clean product, so I bought myself a tanning machine and tried a bunch of different solutions on myself. Through trial and error, I ended up finding an organic solution I loved. With my machine, I started sharing the solution with close friends. Friends then became regular clients and that brought more clients. One thing led to another, and soon after I opened my first space in downtown Los Angeles. I loved making people feel beautiful and confident in their skin.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a small business can have its challenges. I started my business with no salon – I worked out of my small apartment in Santa Monica offering mobile spray tans. I built my business by word of mouth and referrals. While I was grateful to have a steadily growing clientele, I spent so much time driving all over Los Angeles! Once I was able to get a salon space of my own, I saw my business grow.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bronze Me Baby?
We offer airbrush spray tanning customized for each client and performed by a technician instead of a machine. The experience is completed in under 15 minutes in our beautiful salon. In addition to our salon experience, we offer a self-tanning product line formulated using natural ingredients and oils designed to hydrate and nourish your skin to give a natural glow. Our solution and product line are cruelty-free, paraben-free, and vegan-friendly.
We take pride in getting feedback from every client and creating a top-notch experience. We are proud to have developed a long list of returning clientele that trust our craft.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Warmth and kindness are the most important characteristics that have led to my success. Recognizing getting a spray tan can be a vulnerable experience, we strive for our clients to have an enjoyable experience with our friendly and kind demeanor. People want to work with someone they trust and feel comfortable with!
