Jaida, so thrilled to have you joining us again, this time to talk all about your services and so let’s jump right in. Please give our audience some background on your services.
Black Beauty Near You, LLC started in 2019 from a lack of beauty supply products that the founder, Jaida Day, experienced on the campus of UC San Diego; an experience that many Black girls at predominantly White Institutions (PWIs) unfortunately know all too well. As a result, over the years, Day has created an online beauty supply store, a braider directory, and an online university for students to find a sense of community and get the resources they need as a student to prepare them for their day-to-day during and post-college.

What’s been the most exciting part of the journey of taking this from idea to real life?
Being able to directly speak to the girls and hear how my services help make their college life more enjoyable always brings me joy!

If you had to boil your services or brand down to one core message – what would that message be?
We’re doing what these PWIs should be doing!

Do you have any advice for folks who are just starting out?
Lean on people for support! Asking for help is difficult but at some point you’ll realize that you’re going to need more than just you to fully execute your ideas.
