Bangelle Jewelry, thanks for joining us again. We’re so excited to have a product focused conversation today. Can you bring our readers up to speed on the product side?
Bangelle specializes in 18K handcrafted bangles & bracelets. Just like a nice watch makes you feel more put together immediately, we wanted to create a similar feeling with the bangles. Bold and solid gold pieces for an effortless and luxurious look. Our first collection started off with solid gold only. The main driving force was to create unisex, ageless, universally beautiful and sturdy pieces. A brand created exclusively for heavy-handed, gold loving, bracelet-obsessed jewelry aficionados, who can’t do without their favorite stacks. All designs are handmade by our tight-knit network of local master jewelers in Los Angeles. They are wearable pieces, day or night, dressed up or down. The uncompromising design is as beautiful as it is strong. While stunning on their own, I like to layer the bangles with other beloved pieces as the perfect addition. There is something uniquely satisfying about a bundle of bangles gently rattling. My ideal stack includes Cartier’s Juste un Clou, Hermes’ Kelly and Collier de Chien, a fun tennis bracelet for some sparkle and Bangelle’s Dainty and Uni. I had this vision long before I laid eyes on the first Bangelle prototypes. Being an L.A.-based brand, it’s all about bringing together the mundane and luxury.
I look at the early pieces as the foundation of the brand. Based on that, we have added other designs, play- and colorful pieces, including diamonds and colored gemstones. I’m excited to announce that we recently also launched rings and earrings! The newer pieces have their own ‘personalities’, but there’s definitively a recurring theme; similar to musical variations, there’s an aesthetic resemblance that keeps peeping through the different models.
Do you remember the moment you realized the world needed this product?
Although I have a background in jewelry, the idea to start a jewelry brand came to me at a particular moment about 3 years ago. It was shortly after the holidays, during which I received a beautiful gift from my husband, a watch from a renowned French jeweler. I loved it but I did play with the idea to get a bangle instead (stacked wrists have always held a special place in my heart). So I visited their Beverly Hills flagship store and had a look around. While of course their jewelry was stunning, I left the store (with my gifted watch) thinking I’ve seen all of those bangles on many different people so many times before. Jewelry is highly personal and unique to me. A few days later I put on my stack and I couldn’t stop thinking about what kind of piece I would add to it if I could. If I could. And something in me said, I could and I should! I began sketching and quickly had several ideas for fabulous additions to wrist parties. Being in L.A., with a background in high-end jewelry and a love for impeccable design, it all fell into place. At this point I was exclusively focusing on bangles. The brand’s name Bangelle popped in my head early on, way before I saw any of the prototypes: Bang+Elle makes Bangelle! I thought it was a brilliant idea. And the fact that it rhymes with Chanel just made it better. What were the odds that after playing with the words bangle and my name, I ended up with a great name for a jewelry line? Hit the nail on the head!
If you had to boil your product or brand down to one core message – what would that message be?
“Memories I hold dear to my heart, bangles I hold dear on my hand”. My ambitious goal is for people to think Bangelle when they think high-end bangles.
What’s next on the product or brand roadmap?
We recently expanded the brand and are now proudly offering rings and earrings as well. Spoiler alert: stay tuned for Bangelle’s necklaces that we’ll be launching soon, too! Like the bangles and bracelets, all pieces are handcrafted in Los Angeles. When I started the brand three years ago, my vision was clearly focused on eye candy for the wrists. From my perspective there was a void in the high-jewelry realm when it came to unique additions to stacked wrists. My driving force was creating my version of perfect additions to stacks. Focusing on a niche was helpful in establishing the brand. I believe it made the products better and it also set us apart from other jewelry brands. As we grew, so did our focus and this naturally evolved into the creation of other pieces of jewelry. They share many of the same qualities as the bangles – sleek, stackable and fabulous. The three pillars of Bangelle are impeccable design, craftsmanship and innovation. We continue to grow upon these principles and look forward to bringing you lots of wonderful bling in the future.
