Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Mccoy.
Hi Taylor, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m originally from Opelousas, Louisiana. It’s a very small country town. I wanted to better myself and get out of Louisiana, where I was surrounded by violence, poverty, etc. I ended up joining the Army to get away from my environment and to see the world and what it had to offer me. I wanted to be a better version of what I was brought up around. I wanted to set the standard for myself and my future. Growing up, I didn’t have much; it was just me and my mom. I was taught to always have a job or a hustle.
In order to get the things I want in life or to become independent, I don’t have to rely on anyone for anything. Growing up in my teen years, I always had a job or two. I was always into fashion, makeup, hair, etc. I would watch my grandma do her makeup and hair every Sunday for church and just sit there and watch her, and she would teach me as I grew older. Sometimes she would take me make-up shopping or just shopping for clothes. As an adult, it just stuck to me. I first began selling lash strips; it went okay, but I eventually wanted something that was hands-on. I wanted to be that girl who uses her creativity to make other women feel happy and beautiful. So that’s when I became a lash artist. It became my passion. Not only did it become my passion, but I can be my own boss as well and build generational wealth.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Some of the struggles along the way would be negative people. Some people would doubt my work or just won’t support you. They would project their insecurities onto me hoping that it would dim my light. I didn’t let that stop me I kept going and stayed focused on my goals.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Knowing that a customer genuinely likes her set of lashes. Being able to connect with others and form friendships. Using my creativity. Getting the recognition from my business.
