Stephanie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey with Fly Wines began during the pandemic when my fascination for wines grew, and a disappointing tasting experience sparked the idea. Determined to bring my vision to life, I immersed myself in understanding the wine business and leveraged my network to build a talented team. By forging relationships and seeking knowledge from industry experts, Fly Wines became a reality. Today, we stand as a testament to the power of passion, collaboration, and perseverance in creating a unique wine company.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While we all hope for a smooth road, the journey of building Fly Wines had its fair share of challenges. The initial stages were particularly tough as I navigated the alcohol industry after a difficult time following my Mom’s passing. Understanding the intricacies of licenses and legal processes without the luxury of hiring lawyers was a hurdle. Additionally, tackling the operational logistics of packaging added another layer of complexity. Despite these obstacles, we persevered. These experiences have shaped us into a stronger and more resilient company.
We’ve been impressed with Fly Wines, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Fly Wines is a wine company that proudly stands as a Black woman-owned business. Our mission is to bring the world of independent wineries to wine enthusiasts everywhere. What truly makes me happy is the ability to bring my ideas to life and create the life I envisioned. Witnessing the impact of my efforts and seeing my vision come to fruition brings me immense happiness. Moreover, I find great joy in witnessing others pursue their own dreams and live fulfilling lives, as it reinforces the belief that we all have the power to shape our destinies and find purpose in our existence.
