Exploring Life & Business with Shiraz Simonian of Simonian & Simonian

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shiraz Simonian.

Shiraz, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law, my original ambition was to go work for a firm to gain as much experience as I could. That’s exactly what I did, and spent approximately seven years working for a nationwide law firm doing civil litigation. The experiences I gained were invaluable, which included jury trials, arguing in front of the Court of Appeals, drafting writs. After a while, I felt it was time to move on and open my own law firm, which I started in 2014. I know predominantly practice Employment Law and Personal Injury Law.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest struggle in quitting a big firm job is the understanding that you will not get regular paychecks for some time. In fact, it’s something that you never fully get used to. But in the end, the benefits of having your own business outweigh the challenges of leaving a sure thing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I started Simonian & Simonian, PLC in 2004. My practice consists of Employment Law and Personal Injury. In the context of Employment Law, I represent employees who have experienced workplace discrimination, harassment or retaliation, who have been wrongfully terminated, and who have not been paid wages. I also represent clients who have been injured, either in the workplace or outside of the workplace, such as in car accidents.

What makes you happy?
Spending time with my wife and my 2.5 years old son makes me the happiest. Prioritizing the important things in life is essential.
