Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Lucero-Daga.
Hi Samantha, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
While juggling a full-time position at the hospital and pursuing my master’s degree, I received encouraging words from colleagues of my husband, suggesting I explore aesthetic medicine and consider opening my own practice. At first, I didn’t give much thought to their suggestions. However, life took an unexpected turn when I experienced a medical incident that nearly resulted in the loss of function on the right side of my body. I was later diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Despite facing this challenge, I remained determined, continuing with my studies while undergoing rigorous therapy sessions with my physical therapist, occupational therapist, and neurologist with the goal of regaining function of my body.
Upon fulfilling all requirements for the state of California, I embarked on my final clinical rotation at a medical spa. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for aesthetic medicine and was subsequently offered my first job in the field at that very medical spa. Despite this newfound passion and my background in business prior to medicine, the idea of opening my own practice hadn’t yet crossed my mind.
I dedicated many years to the field of minimally invasive aesthetic medicine (MIAM), including obtaining my doctorate, where I aided in clarifying the scope of practice for nurse practitioners in California in the field of MIAM. I invested heavily (and continue to invest) in my education through various trainings, cadaver courses, and conferences in the field as it is not traditionally taught in school; I also grew my experience working across various settings from plastic surgery to dermatology and medical spas. Through my experiences, I have gained invaluable knowledge, but the story of Ananya Aesthetics truly begins with a seemingly simple item: latex gloves.
One day, I was confronted with a startling question: “Can’t you use one pair of gloves for the day?” The realization that this was a serious inquiry left me both shocked and appalled. It was at that moment I knew I had to take action. On my way home that day, I called my partner and expressed my readiness to open my own practice.
This incident was just one of many instances where I witnessed organizations compromising safety and integrity for the sake of profits. I had reached my breaking point. I recognized the urgent need for a practice where patients could trust that their needs and goals were prioritized rather than being exploited.
As the practice flourished, I faced a pivotal decision: continue as a solo-preneur or expand by hiring others. Reflecting on the experiences of providers in similar environments, I made the choice to create a workplace where integrity thrived and staff felt secure and valued. Our team has grown steadily, fostering a culture of continuous growth and development.
As our business continues to thrive, I have embraced the opportunity to share the insights I have gained along the way. Whether teaching on stage or offering private consultations, I am committed to empowering fellow business owners with the knowledge and principles that have guided our success at Ananya Aesthetics.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Running a business is far from smooth and certainly not for the faint of heart. I often liken it to embarking on a marathon for which you have not adequately prepared – a feat I have actually accomplished, by the way. Just as with announcing your intent to run a marathon, sharing your plans to start a business elicits a mixed bag of reactions. Some will genuinely cheer you on, while others may doubt your abilities or offer unsolicited (and usually not helpful) advice. The same happened to me when I embarked on this journey.
Much like the undulating terrain of a marathon course, the path of entrepreneurship is filled with ups and downs. Yet, there comes a point where the noise fades away, and you are left facing real obstacles. In the initial stages, the thrill of starting something new carries you forward. However, I soon encountered naysayers and well-meaning advice-givers urging me to follow a certain path. I remained open to experimentation with what typically works for most businesses, but I quickly realized that my business and clientele were unique – and that was a blessing. I pivoted accordingly, guided by the feedback from supportive individuals and loyal clients who fueled my business’s growth.
Navigating the challenges of maintaining a work-life balance has been paramount. Balancing the demands of multiple roles within the business, managing time effectively, and attending to both personal and professional needs has been a constant juggling act. Amidst the hustle and bustle, I have realized prioritizing self-care has been essential to sustaining both my business and personal well-being.
I have been fortunate to have the unwavering support of incredible individuals, including estheticians Megan, Katie, Kristin, and others. Additionally, my husband Nikhil has been an invaluable partner, providing support in countless ways. My family – especially my parents, who instilled in me the value of hard work, my sister Tiana, who has literally stepped in to help out when I needed it most, and my cousin Sharilyn who has been a shining example that having Multiple Sclerosis does not define you or limit your potential. And none of this would be possible without my best friend and medical director, Luani, and the guidance of my coach, Kaeli, who has encouraged my uniqueness and authenticity.
While the journey has been fraught with struggles, each obstacle has imparted valuable lessons, leading to exponential growth. Through this process, I have gained a level of confidence that I never imagined possible.

Our expertise extends to treating a wide range of skin concerns, including but not limited to acne, rosacea, melasma, and various forms of hyperpigmentation. We believe in achieving facial harmony while respecting cultural nuances.

In addition to offering renowned treatments like our Escargloneedoing and Porcelain Trifecta, we have developed proprietary methods that are exclusive to Ananya Aesthetics. With our dedication to excellence and personalized care, we empower our clients to embrace their unique beauty and achieve radiant, healthy skin.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
When asked what matters most to me in my business, the central guiding principle is creating a culture of trust and empowerment for both our clients and our team. My passion for helping others achieve confidence through expert care is deeply intertwined with the relationships we build with our patients. This involves more than just providing treatments; it’s about fostering an environment where patients feel valued, understood, and confident that they are receiving only the care they truly need, without pressure to purchase unnecessary services. This transparency and honesty are crucial because they strengthen the trust our patients have in us and ensure they feel secure in the choices they make for their health and appearance.
Another aspect that’s deeply important to me is the continuous education of our providers. By prioritizing the ongoing development of our team’s knowledge and skills, we ensure they are adept at treating a diverse range of skin concerns across all skin types. This commitment to professional growth is vital because it means our providers can offer the highest standard of care using the latest advancements in treatments. It’s important to me that our team not only stays at the forefront of the industry but also feels fulfilled and motivated by their work.
Additionally, creating a supportive workplace where our staff is valued is fundamental. I believe that a team can only provide exceptional care to others when they themselves feel supported, respected, and valued. Encouraging their professional growth and respecting their well-being helps foster a positive and nurturing work environment, which directly translates into high-quality patient care.
Ultimately, the reason these principles matter so much to me is that they combine to create a holistic environment where trust, respect, and integrity are paramount. This foundation ensures we meet the immediate and long-term needs of our patients and staff, fostering lasting relationships that enrich everyone involved. By focusing on these values, we build a business that not only succeeds but also contributes positively to the lives of all who interact with it.
