Today we’d like to introduce you to Qeona Pirtle.
Hi Qeona, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I took a microblading class late 2017 just to see if I would like it. I spent a year being scared because my thoughts were this is semi-permanent on someone’s face. I had 0 clients and just held myself back until I started posting about my services. Narissa at the Lash Trap took me in, and I gained more clients. I then went to work, had a 9-5, got my own suite, and was only doing it as a side hustle for 3 years, and now I’m full-time on my own. It’s been a long time coming, but I’m thankful for where I am. There is definitely more, but I can share it during the interview.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It most definitely wasn’t a smooth road. I definitely struggled in the beginning with mapping brows, threading brows, gaining clients, and just learning how to run my own business. There are many days I wanted to give up. You have to pay the bills, take inventory, market yourself, do paperwork, make sure you are doing your taxes, have insurance, make sure your space is clean, etc.; there are many hats that are worn when you decide you want to work for yourself. It’s no walk in the park, but staying consistent and mentally driving yourself every day when there are days where there is no money coming in, I just had to learn to alchemize my energy to want to just keep going every day!!! It’s worth it
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My name is Qeona, I am Brows by Q. I do semi-permanent and non-semi-permanent brow services that include microblading, ombre brows, brow lamination, tint, henna and threading for brows. I am known for making your brows beautiful and instilling confidence but also making your morning or make routine easier when it comes to brows. If you are a service girly or a non-service girly, you know having a little time taken off of your day or having one less thing to do is time efficient, and why not feel beautiful while you’re at it? I am passionate about what I do, I care about what I do, every client is a canvas for me, these aren’t cookie cutter shaped brows, I enhance each client’s natural beauty, and I create a safe space for clients to come and relax so they can feel their best. I’m most proud of doing it on my own and figuring it out and still standing even when things got difficult, coming to sit in my chair, I want to hear about how you want to look, what your goals are and how we can achieve it together.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Definitely my girl Narissa, the owner of the Lash Trap. She opened her doors to me and taught me how to thread eyebrows. We would talk about different techniques and inks, bounce ideas off of each other, and just were able to sit and talk about just brows without withholding information. In the beauty industry, classes are expensive, and some instructors are there to just take your money and not try to give you all of the sauce even though you paid for it, so I appreciate the sisterhood we were able to have and still have and not hate on each other but support each other even tho we both do brows. I cherish it very much. The Lash Trap definitely had me booked and busy, and it gave me the push I needed to be able to even be on my own and have clients and exposure.
