Today we’d like to introduce you to Ophelia Soumekh.
Hi Ophelia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Honestly, it all started with my natural knack for networking. I realized I had a real ability to connect people, and I thought why not use that to help my friends get their fashion lines some exposure? So during LA Fashion Week, I set myself a goal: if I could get their styles featured on Good Day LA in one of their in-studio fashion segments, I’d not only prove I could do this, I’d land them as my first clients.
I spent 30 days straight pitching that idea. Just as I was about to give up, I got a response on the 30th day. I ended up booking both of their brands, a belt line and a clothing line, for a segment that aired during LA Fashion Week on Good Day LA. That was the turning point.
It was on that very booking that I met a guest TV expert who would go on to become both my business partner and mentor for the next three years. Together, we produced hundreds of TV segments and media articles, working closely with brands and producers across industries.
From there, I carved out my own path taking on clients with a completely untraditional approach to PR. Whether it’s movie studios, Fortune 100 companies, emerging brands, public figures, or even AI, I’ve never limited myself to a single niche or medium. I found what works for me…and I haven’t looked back since.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road wasn’t always smooth at the beginning, but it was worth it. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to be discerning with trust. Partnerships can be powerful, but they aren’t always forever. Growth sometimes means outgrowing people or situations that no longer align with your vision. If your team is holding you back, you have to be willing to let go in order to move forward.
I’ve been lucky to have some incredible mentors who still guide me to this day, and I make it a point to do the same for others coming up in the industry. Paying it forward matters. This business doesn’t have to be cutthroat. There’s room for everyone, and collaboration is key.
Networking is everything in PR. The relationships you build across all levels are often what open the next door. So don’t feel threatened by others. Learn to collaborate, not compete. That mindset shift can change everything.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
DesirePR is not your traditional PR agency, and that is exactly the point. We specialize in high-impact visibility strategies that are completely tailored to the client. Whether it is getting a product on national television, creating viral media moments, securing top-tier press placements, or building a public profile from the ground up, we approach each project with intention, creativity, and a strong network behind us.
What sets us apart is that we DO NOT believe in cookie-cutter campaigns. We can work À la carte or on a monthly base. Every client, every brand, every story is different, and we treat it that way. We work across industries including fashion, beauty, tech, AI, entertainment, and wellness because we believe good storytelling transcends categories. From the largest water brand to apparel, crypto, talent, and the red carpet—we have done it all. We are known for our bold approach, relentless pitching, and our ability to get clients into rooms they did not think they could enter.
Our secret recipe is simple but powerful. We create FOMO. We make people want to know more about your brand, talk about it, and be part of what you are building. That buzz, that energy, that urgency to engage is what sets our campaigns apart and gives our clients lasting visibility.
I am most proud of how we have built DesirePR into a brand people trust to deliver. We do not just chase press. We build brand legacies. Our clients walk away with more than just media coverage. They leave with clarity, confidence, and a stronger connection to their audience.
What I want readers to know is that PR is not just about being seen. It is about being seen by the right people in the right way. If you are ready to elevate your presence, make bold moves, and work with a team that truly understands how to create impact, DesirePR is ready for you.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
First and always, it’s time with my family. My three boys are already in college, and honestly, it feels like it happened overnight. If I could turn back time, I’d go right back to those moments when they were little, just to cuddle them again. My husband is my biggest supporter and has been by my side through it all. I truly couldn’t do what I do without his constant encouragement.
Creativity also brings me so much joy. I paint when I can, but even when I’m not holding a brush, my work constantly challenges me to think creatively. Every campaign, every client, every brand story requires imagination and originality. That creative process is what drives me. I think that’s why I love what I do so much I couldn’t imagine doing the same thing every day. In PR, no two days are ever alike, and that keeps me inspired.
