Exploring Life & Business with Omaira Nightshade of Horror Vibes Coffee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Omaira Nightshade

Hi Omaira, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up with a love for horror films and the macabre and a dream to create something unique. I combined my love for coffee and love for horror and opened Horror Vibes Coffee, a spooky year-round coffee shop here in Los Angeles. 3 years later, we’ve become a destination spot and are expanding to Las Vegas. Hard work, learning from setbacks, and staying true to myself and my vision are the driving forces behind where I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running a business is far from easy, Some challenges (to name a few) are managing operations, slow seasons, and balancing a personal life with professional responsibilities. Another setback I face is some days I’m not feeling the best (whether it’s mentally or physically) or I don’t want to complete my tasks for the day. But as a business owner I realize no one else is going to step in and do it for me. This keeps me pushing forward because my vision and goals depend on discipline and consistency. Setbacks for me are growing pains and I utilize it to improve and keep pushing.

As you know, we’re big fans of Horror Vibes Coffee . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I own a horror-themed coffee shop here in Los Angeles called Horror Vibes Coffee. We’re a year-round spooky coffee shop where the ghouls come to gather to celebrate the eerie and unusual! Our menu is inspired by horror films and we carry spooky treats baked by other local small businesses.
I’m most proud of creating a space where creativity, community and coffee collide. Horror Vibes Coffee is not just a coffee shop- it’s an experience.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luc when it comes to business. I believe success comes from hard work, persistence, and learning from setbacks! The opportunities I’ve had have been a result of those. I don’t really feel anything is a result of bad luck, either. I feel the outcome of any situation is based on actions and decisions. Although challenges arise unexpectedly, my response and how I take action determines the result.
