As two female entrepreneurs, the idea of NOEM came to us in law school at Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law. While competing in the American Bar Association Mediation Competition in Los Angeles and the International Chamber of Commerce Mediation Competition in Paris, we understood the tremendous potential and impact of mediation, and we wanted to make it more accessible. Working in litigation and arbitration, Nora and Em created NOEM to provide cutting-edge online mediation services to resolve disputes. We also realized the importance of communication in everyday life. With our background and expertise as communication coaches and educators, we knew that we could utilize our skills to help people in a transformative way.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Setting out to do something important is a challenge. What eases this journey is the trust and respect that we have for one another as business partners and as friends. Working closely with someone who shares the same values, goals, and care is a recipe for success.
Like any new and worthwhile endeavor, there’s always a learning curve. Our strong legal training and our expertise in mediation prepared us to launch NOEM and to take it to new heights. We have collectively mediated hundreds of cases throughout Los Angeles County. Through our respective legal careers in litigation and arbitration, we have figured out what works best for our business, and we are excited to keep growing.
