Exploring Life & Business with Nathan Apolonio of ND Film & Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathan Apolonio.

Hi Nathan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
ND Film & Media started with a simple love for storytelling and capturing real moments. I’ve always had a passion for creating, whether it was filming home videos, editing highlight reels for my basketball teams, or experimenting with photography. That creative itch stuck with me.

What really sparked things was filming a close friend’s wedding. It wasn’t planned—just me, a camera, and a favor—but I fell in love with the energy of the day, the emotion, the movement. I realized I had something unique to offer, and more importantly, I wanted to build something meaningful around it.

From there, ND Film & Media was born. I started with just a camera and a vision, taking on small gigs and learning everything I could. Over time, I refined my style to focus on cinematic wedding films that feel genuine, emotional, and elegant. Word spread, and what started as a solo passion project turned into a full-fledged business.

Today, I get to tell stories for couples on one of the most important days of their lives. It’s personal, it’s creative, and it still feels like a dream every time I hit record. That’s how it all started—and how I got here.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not always a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been trying to do everything myself—being a one-man band for a long time. From filming and editing to managing client communication, social media, marketing, and running the business side… it can get overwhelming fast.

There were seasons of burnout where I was working late nights, missing time with family and friends, and feeling like I was constantly chasing deadlines. It’s hard to maintain creative energy when you’re stretched so thin. I had to learn the hard way that just because you can do everything doesn’t mean you should.

Over time, I’ve started building better systems, leaning into collaborations, and learning to protect my time and energy so I can show up fully—for both my clients and myself. It’s still a journey, but I’ve grown a lot through those struggles.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about ND Film & Media ?
ND Film & Media is a wedding videography brand built around storytelling, emotion, and timeless visuals. We specialize in cinematic wedding films that feel personal, intentional, and elevated—films that not only document your day but truly reflect it. Every couple has a unique story, and our job is to bring that to life with authenticity, care, and a touch of artistry.

What sets us apart is our approach. We don’t just show up with cameras—we invest in the people behind the day. I take the time to understand each couple’s vibe, vision, and values so the final film feels like them, not just a highlight reel. From quiet, emotional moments to the loud joy of the reception, I aim to capture it all with depth and cinematic polish.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the experience we provide. It’s not just about delivering a beautiful film—it’s about making couples feel seen, heard, and taken care of every step of the way. Whether they book the Cinema Package for a highlight film or the full Photography + Videography experience, the goal is always the same: to craft something meaningful and memorable.

At ND Film & Media, we believe wedding films should be more than a recap—they should feel like a movie you want to watch again and again. That’s the heart behind everything we do.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest advice for anyone just starting out is to embrace the process and give yourself permission to grow. When I first started ND Film & Media, I felt like I had to have everything figured out—my brand, my pricing, my style—but the truth is, clarity comes with time and experience. Don’t be afraid to start before you feel “ready.”

One thing I wish I knew earlier is the importance of setting boundaries and valuing your time. When you’re passionate, it’s easy to say yes to everything, but burnout is real—especially when you’re wearing all the hats. Learn to pace yourself, invest in systems, and take breaks when you need them. Your creativity will thank you.

Also, don’t underestimate the power of relationships. This industry is built on trust and connection, not just talent. Treat every client, vendor, and collaborator with respect and gratitude—it goes a long way.

Lastly, stay true to your voice. Trends come and go, but your unique perspective is what will set you apart in the long run. Keep learning, stay curious, and remember why you started.
