Exploring Life & Business with Mary Alvizures of Share Your Magic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Alvizures.

Hi Mary, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a graphic designer ever since I had my first computer, anyone remember Microsoft PAINT program? There were also online journals and profiles (Xanga / Myspace)?! I would spend hours on there having fun and trying new things. Little did I know that fun would lead me to play with the bigger tools like adobe illustrator and photoshop when I grew up, along with bigger website design platforms we use today such as Squarespace.

I went to design school (FIDM) and although I thought I was going to pursue a career within the fashion industry, I quickly learned it wasn’t the best place for me. I wasn’t made of the “thick skin” you needed back in the day and I slowly made my way out of it, always in pursuit of finding myself into something with more freedom and being able to be 100% me. I thought I would have a fashion boutique instead but after helping run two small businesses I also realized that wasn’t for me. The one thing I always came back to was “my little world on the computer with design and colors”. That was my happy place.

For a few years, I was in the event planning industry. Again, having fun creatively but not 100% feeling aligned. When I left event planning I thought I would become a graphic designer and pursue that full time but before I knew it I landed in website design and created my own “thing” – Website design and brand strategy for soul driven entrepreneurs.

I always loved supporting small businesses. If you ask me if I want to go eat italian food from the mom and pop restaurant down the street or a corporate chain – mom and pop always wins! I think it comes from my mom’s family side – so many small business owners. Many of my clients are just getting started or have been in business for a few years with a small team supporting them so it’s a very intimate experience. To best design and create something magical, we really get to know each other. I always tell my clients, the more I know – the better!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Entrepreneurship can feel like a thrilling roller coaster. There have been some high high’s and some low low’s. There have been some struggles, especially in the beginner years of my business. Some of those being new to the industry, insecurities around managing a business and putting myself out there as a personal brand or brand in general, thinking I had to keep up with what everyone else was doing to grow their businesses, overworking myself and schedule, some days putting projects and clients before taking care of myself instead. You know what they say – “you can’t pour from an empty cup”. This is true in business as well. Thankfully though, as a I reach almost a decade doing what I love, I’d say with the right support and a willingness to get through it all I’m thriving now and have made it through the “lows”.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Share Your Magic?
Getting online with a website can be an overwhelming process. My specialty is making it all simple and feeling magical vs. something that makes you want to pull out your hair.

When it comes to being online, you know you want to be seen as the heart centered powerhouse you are. At Share Your Magic, I design soul aligned brands and websites that make you money. I am an Intuitive brand and web desiger for Spiritual Entrepreneurs, Intuitives, Life Coaches, Energy Healers, Holistic, Conscious, Health and Wellness Businesses. Share Your Magic is a Woman-Owned, First-Generation Latina Small-Business dedicated to bringing your digital dreams to life!

What sets me apart as a website designer is that I’ll meet you exactly where you are. Whether you’re just starting out or already established, I’ll guide you to where you want to be. My design style is intuitive, meaning I have a way of creating what you envisioned (or better) without you needing to have it all figured out. And when our work together is complete, I make sure you feel confident managing your own site by providing training videos, so you’re never left waiting on a designer for simple updates.

What makes me happiest about this work is being part of the ripple effect: by helping you share your magic with the world, you get to help others in return, and together we create something brighter and better.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
There’s definitely a shift with AI coming into play for everything digital. However, I don’t think that will make website designers extint. I love AI and its supportive tools and capabilities but at the end of the day we’re still humans that want to feel like we’re connecting with other humans and therefore still need that human support and touch on our website. Can’t think of better way to stand out from the crowd as a brand or business yourself!
