Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Julian.
Hi Lindsey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I was a bold little girl with a wild imagination.
I wrote endless business plans and recruited friends as fake customers. I had a bookstore, fashion line, horse training facility, and countless other companies. Although transactions were paid in Monopoly money, my dream of one day becoming an entrepreneur was very real.
And while I never lost sight of that dream, I did take a decade-long detour in corporate after graduating from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
For 10 years, I built brand strategies and multifaceted marketing campaigns for some of the world’s most admired companies like Samsung and Unilever.
Climbing to a senior marketing position at a Fortune Global 50 company offered the opportunity to work with some of the brightest, most interesting colleagues I could imagine, launch award-winning marketing campaigns, and lead multi-million dollar rebrands.
I thought I had it all figured out. But what I actually had was a bad case of burnout.
I knew it was time to shift my life from “success” to “significance.”
On April 1, 2022, I closed my corporate laptop for good and set out to solve what was pulling on my heartstrings:
Limited resources and smaller budgets keep too many do-good businesses in the shadows.
While sitting on Will Rogers State Beach with this problem pressing on my heart, the concept for my company Lindsey Julian Consulting was born.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A winding road seems more fitting—with lessons revealed around every bend.
During my decade in corporate, I had established household names backing me. Being behind the scenes of these brands required strategic marketing and messaging expertise to continue their positive reputation. But the pressure I felt as a professional was very different…
As an entrepreneur, showing up as my OWN brand requires a whole other level of characteristics—mainly courage and confidence.
Instead of letting overwhelm lead to inaction, I’ve learned key lessons to keep the momentum:
1.) Just start. The best way to learn is by doing.
2.) Accept that rejection is not optional, it’s certain. Use “no” as an opportunity to better understand client needs and objections.
3.) Don’t quit when things get hard. Setbacks are typically placed on the path to see how serious you are.
Simply put: entrepreneurship is a big personal development project.
Along my journey, I’ve never had a perfect plan. But I’ve always had a purpose.
It’s this purpose that fills my tank and ignites me to keep going. Because helping small businesses that have set out to shake things up and make a positive impact is the ultimate gift.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
