Exploring Life & Business with Kimberly Wallen of Her Sisters Keeper Foundation for Women

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Wallen.

Kimberly Wallen

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Uplifting and empowering women started years before my nonprofit organization, Her Sisters Keeper Foundation for Women Inc, was established in September 2022. I was a single mother of three children who at times had no car and lived with different family members to avoid becoming homeless. During this time, I experienced depression, mental anguish, and degradation from others. By the Grace of God and my relentless desire to do and be better, I overcame. From this, the desire to support and encourage women experiencing similar situations was formed. It is my mission to create a community and safe space for women to come together and support one another not only through life’s struggles but also the victories.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. Of all the challenges I encountered, I believe self-doubt was the greatest one to overcome. I was experiencing so many degrees of fear- the unknown, failure, success, not being good enough, no one cares about your cause. It was a terrible hamster wheel to be on. I finally decided to shut out the noise and change my mindset. I began to speak positive words of affirmation to myself and continued to work on my organization. Now, I am very intentional about being optimistic. My motto is if I don’t give up, eventually I will succeed.

We’ve been impressed with Her Sisters Keeper Foundation for Women Inc, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that cares about the struggles, needs and yes, the victories that women encounter. It is our mission to support the mental wellness of women from all walks of life, primarily in vulnerable communities. Through our organization, women are encouraged to reach their highest potential and become the amazing people they were created to be. I am most proud of the programs that we are developing. We sent two deserving mothers to Glen Ivy Hot Springs Resort for Mother’s Day this past May, we hosted a Girls Movie Night Meetup for 15 women in August, and we are helping one family in need have a great Christmas this year. I believe what sets us apart from others is, we don’t just want women to survive life, but to THRIVE in life. We participate in various community service events in Moreno Valley and throughout Riverside County. In addition to the programs previously mentioned, we are working on other exciting projects for next year geared to improve the personal and professional skills of women. I’m very excited about it.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I hope to see HSKFW grow and expand. One of our goals is to have a resource center to host empowerment classes, entrepreneur labs, and various other programs. Brunches and conferences are great, but tools and skills are truly what is needed to change lives.
