Today we’d like to introduce you to Kia Zomorrodi.
Hi Kia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Funny enough, it all really started cause I lost the 5th-grade class president election. Instead of spending my time in class council, I chose to be in our video film program. I was already interested in film, as I would use my Dad’s camcorder and force my sister and friends to play parts in funny sketch videos, but I started to learn how to edit and really create things in that class.
Through schooling and even college, I always kept creating sketch comedy videos for fun. Some going viral on YouTube, some just being silly things my group of friends would find funny.
My senior year of college, I took an internship at an online ad tech company. It was a great experience, and I really learned the marketing and advertising side of video. It made me think… “Hey, brands are spending a lot of money running some pretty bad commercials…I think I can make better content than this!”.
So I started convincing friends and family that had businesses to let me make some funny ad content for them. It started to get more and more serious, and I eventually moved to LA to team up with my film friends and create more high-quality content… Towards the end 2020, we got our first studio in the downtown arts district, and things have been moving ever since!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth sounds like a pipe dream! There’s always something to do, there’s always a fire to put out, and there’s always something that can be worked on. It’s incredibly rewarding but also stressful. I’ve learned to enjoy all of it and balance my emotions.
With us working on a by-project model and not a retainer, the biggest struggle is always trying to balance finding new business and building the team to support the growth simultaneously. We didn’t start the agency with any connections in the ad world or a Rolodex of clients from past jobs like most ad agency owners have. We just started from scratch and have let the work speak for itself to drive growth and new business through word of mouth and some creative marketing we run ourselves.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We were tired of lackluster campaigns and unoriginal ideas brought on by lengthy timelines and overpriced productions. We started Bacon and Eggs as a creative agency that led with witty, disruptive, not-bleh ideas. While we were at it, we decided to handle all production in-house to streamline the process and cut the usual fluff out of traditional productions. We work with bold, unapologetic brands, and we write and produce commercial content to grow their sales and turn them into household names.
We’re known for the witty and often wilder ideas ad write and produce, including a Game of Thrones-themed ad for a men’s underwear brand, an intimidating buff dude selling Imperfect produce, or the wife of the “god of wine” selling teeth whitener.
The most recent project I’m particularly proud of is a men’s shoe commercial we did with Aaron Rodgers in a humorous “the office” mockumentary style. As well as a campaign we did with Blake Anderson from Workaholics, where he theorizes on “Why are BuzzBallz round?”.
