Exploring Life & Business with Jordan McAuley of Contact Any Celebrity

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan McAuley.

Hi Jordan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in Atlanta, I was always fascinated with celebrities and Hollywood. I worked at a video store in the 90s, renting out popular movies at the time like Pulp Fiction, Reality Bites, and A River Runs Through It. Senior year, my parents took me to L.A., and I was hooked. We went to a taping of Jay Leno, did the Universal Studios Tour backlot, and a celebrity home tour. I even made my dad drive me around looking for Madonna’s Hollywood Hills home, the one with the stripes all the neighbors complained about. We also toured USC, I didn’t get accepted there, but I did get into the University of Miami’s film program. While there, I interned at CNN in Atlanta, Cartoon Networth, and a modeling agency in South Beach while majoring in Motion Picture Business. Immediately upon graduation, I moved to Los Angeles.

My first apartment was in Hollywood, on Franklin and LaBrea. Right next to the Magic Castle, Hollywood Boulevard, and Scientology. I worked as an assistant at a film production company on Sunset Boulevard, then as an agent’s assistant at a talent agency in Beverly Hills. During that time, making almost no money and getting yelled at by my boss, I grew a website I had created in college called Contact Any Celebrity. Soon, I was making more money doing that than working nine to ten. So, I quit.

Over the next few years, I grew ContactAnyCelebrity.com into a membership site used by fans, businesses, nonprofits, and the media to contact celebrities. My service offers an online database of 59,000 celebrities, influencers, and public figures. You get their best mailing address if you want to send a fan letter, plus their agent, manager, and publicist’s contact info if you’re a nonprofit or business.

Thousands of people have used it to reach out to their favorite star for autographs, donations, endorsements, interviews, and more. Tim Ferriss even recommended it twice in his New York Times bestseller, “The 4-Hour Workweek.”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I started Contact Any Celebrity in the 90s. At the time, it wasn’t easy learning how to build a website and accept credit cards. Especially for a small business working out of an apartment in Hollywood! Today, it’s easy. But not so much back then.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Contact Any Celebrity?
Contact Any Celebrity helps fans, businesses, and nonprofits contact celebrities for autographs, charitable donations, product endorsements, media interviews, and more. What sets us apart is industry experience. I worked at two talent agencies, so I know the best ways to get past the gatekeepers. We have been in business since 1996, that’s almost 30 years! I’m most proud of our longevity and how many people we’ve helped reach the stars for personal or professional reasons. Thousands of nonprofits have received donations and signed memorabilia that they were able to auction off and raise money for their cause. Businesses have gotten their products and services into celebrities’ hands. Authors have received interviews, quotes, and book endorsements. And fans have received autographs from their favorite stars.
