Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnson Lee
Hi Johnson, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area, spending my childhood in Arcadia. After high school, I attended Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, where I discovered my passion for the health sciences. This enthusiasm led me to the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where I earned my medical degree.
Drawn to the perfect blend of technical skill, scientific knowledge, and artistry, I pursued a career in plastic surgery. I completed a six-year plastic surgery residency in upstate New York, followed by an additional six-month fellowship in oculoplastics and aesthetics in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2016, I returned to Los Angeles to establish my aesthetic plastic surgery practice in Beverly Hills.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
US Healthcare is unrecognizable from when I started my medical journey over 20 years ago. Starting a private practice over the past eight years in particular has been a rewarding yet challenging journey. This past decade has witnessed significant changes in social standards, the economy, and politics, all of which have profoundly impacted healthcare. The COVID-19 pandemic was especially challenging for all healthcare workers, but it ultimately highlighted our commitment to the well-being of our community and our resilience.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Like many other aspects of society, beauty tends to be cyclical. Over the past two decades, we’ve witnessed the rise of social media and the constant influence of reality TV stars and music celebrities, who have popularized dramatic and bolder aesthetics to stay noticed. “Big” was in: big hair, big lips, big curves, big butts. Now that the world has become accustomed to the digital age, I foresee the next decade shifting towards more subtle, natural beauty. In other words, the trend will be about achieving enhancements without looking “done.” Already, weight-loss medications such as Ozempic have taken the world by storm, and people are increasingly opting for smaller “maintenance” procedures to avoid the need for larger, more transformative surgeries.
