Today we’d like to introduce you to Jiovani Cervantes.
Hi Jiovani, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The very first set I was on when I first moved to LA, thanks to a friend who landed me the gig, was style assisting for a Karl Kani lookbook. As time passed, I soon found myself surrounded by other creatives within the music, fashion & film industry & getting to work with them in those fields helped my development as a stylist tremendously. I credit the long hours, failed trials, relationship building & genuine people I’ve met along the way that’s gotten me to where I am at the moment.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course, every path to one’s has its ups & downs. I remember a few instances where big opportunities were presented & I just couldn’t pull the amount of pieces I wanted for those gigs. This especially hurt because as a stylist less is definitely not more. I ended up styling the gigs with only so many items despite my best efforts reaching out to brands. This is a huge lesson every stylist runs into when they start out & I was fortunate enough to learn this early on in my career.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
“You’ve got to act fast”
Being able to adapt & make changes necessary that ensures consistency & efficiency. Specifically talking about transitioning an in-person clientele-based business to a virtual model that provides the same result, if not better was a challenge when I faced the lockdown. It was bad enough with the virus spreading rapidly, now I had to figure out where my rent was going to come from. Thankfully, because I had to immediately get to the drawing board on a new business model it allowed me to come up with a system that worked during a time where the world was getting adjusted to this new standard of living.
