Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Templin.
Hi Jill, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In my early twenties, my dad and several family members passed away within a couple of years of each other. These losses and all the grief I felt set me on my spiritual journey. I was new to the metaphysical world but found myself surrounded by all of these new ideas.
A couple of years later, when I was graduating college, I felt led to open a metaphysical store. I wanted to share these ideas that had comforted me so much during such turbulent times. I wanted to make the space pleasant looking and approachable as many metaphysical stores at this time were extremely uninviting in my opinion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have definitely been a lot of struggles along the way. In the beginning, it was a lot of work and took much time to create the presence I wanted in the marketplace. Being only 24 at the time of my opening, I had a lot to learn about life, business, people and spirituality.
Dealing with leases and landlords and extreme rent increases was definitely a struggle for a while. I have moved the store three times.
Computers and the internet were just getting started, so tapping into social media was not easy or my talent either.
I am continuously learning to manage the ups and downs and the ever-changing marketplace.

We are the Chakra Shack–adventures in energy awareness and soulful living. We offer services including Aura Photography, reiki, intuitive readings, house clearings, astrology, palmistry and the list goes on. Additionally, we provide products to assist customers in their spiritual practices and the road of self-discovery such as crystals, aromatherapy, meditation pillows, singing bowls, smudging supplies, and books.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I am not a big believer in luck. Life happens to everyone. I can attest to what I am grateful for… the amazing community, healers, customers, employees that have created a space full of love.
My business has grown so much in the last 20 years and I am perpetually amazed by the support I have received. I consistently get messages from customers thanking me, my staff and independent contractors are like family and continue to show up for me and each other day after day. I only wish I had more work to grow our family.
It is a beautiful thing to create a business that seems to have touched the hearts and lives of so many. I could have never done that on my own.
