Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Rockwell.
Hi Jessie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Absolutely. My journey into midwifery began, as it does for so many of us, with my own birth experience. My first birth was in a hospital, and while I went into it full of excitement, I left feeling dismissed, unheard, and disconnected from what should have been one of the most sacred moments of my life. That experience planted a seed in me — a deep knowing that there had to be another way.
A few years later, I was invited to witness a homebirth, and it completely changed everything I believed about birth. I saw peace. I saw power. I saw a mother surrounded by love, fully in tune with her body and her baby — and I knew in that moment that I was being called to midwifery.
What began as a passion to support other women through birth led me to train as a doula, start a doula agency, opened a pregnancy and parenting support center, and eventually return to school to become a Licensed and Certified Professional Midwife. Over the past twelve years, I’ve attended over 700 births in hospitals, birth centers, and homes, and each one has reaffirmed my belief that birth is not a medical event to be managed, but a sacred physiological process that thrives in an environment of trust, safety, and autonomy.
Through my practice, Gold Soul Midwifery, I’ve devoted my life to helping families experience empowered, evidence-based, and deeply connected homebirth journeys. The relationships I build with my clients often extend far beyond the birth itself — because birth changes everything. It changes how we see ourselves, our bodies, and our strength.
I believe every woman deserves to feel safe, respected, and connected during this transformative journey. My mission is to remind them that their bodies are wise, their intuition is powerful, and birth — when honored — can be one of life’s most profound experiences.
After becoming a mother of four and pouring so much of myself into caring for others, I eventually realized I had lost touch with my own health and identity. A few years ago, I made a commitment to myself — to heal, rebuild, and return to my body with the same reverence I encourage in my clients. Through strength training, consistency, and deep inner work, I lost 100 pounds and found a version of myself I didn’t know I was missing. But more than the physical transformation, it’s been about rediscovering joy, confidence, and trust in my body. That journey is what inspired me to create my online coaching programs — because I know firsthand how powerful it is when a woman decides she’s worthy of feeling strong, vibrant, and alive again.
Over the years, I began noticing that many of the mothers I served wanted continued guidance — not only in motherhood, but in rediscovering their strength, identity, and wellness after baby. That’s what inspired the creation of Gold Soul Training, my holistic online coaching practice. It’s an extension of the same mission: helping women trust their bodies, reclaim their energy, and feel strong in every season of life — from pregnancy to postpartum and beyond.
Whether I’m supporting a family through homebirth or coaching a mom through her first weight-training program, my work is rooted in the same belief: when a woman feels informed, connected, and confident in her body, she can transform her entire world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all — and honestly, I don’t think it’s meant to be. The road to midwifery and coaching, and really to any calling that holds deep purpose, is rarely smooth. It’s been shaped by long nights, missed holidays, heartbreak, and moments of doubt — but also by indescribable joy, trust, and transformation.
When I first started, I was a young mother navigating my own healing from a traumatic first birth while trying to find my footing in a system that didn’t always value the kind of holistic, woman-centered care I believed in. I went back to school with small children at home, often studying late into the night after putting babies to bed. I worked full time, juggled on-call life, and poured everything I had into becoming the kind of midwife I wished I’d had.
There have been seasons of exhaustion and sacrifice — times when the weight of being on call 24/7 felt overwhelming, or when loss reminded me just how sacred and unpredictable this work truly is. But each challenge has refined me, softened me, and strengthened my conviction that this is holy work.
And as I grew as a midwife, I also began growing as a woman. After years of pouring into others, I found myself needing to rebuild my own strength — physically, emotionally, and spiritually. That journey led me to lose 100 pounds, rediscover my vitality, and eventually create Gold Soul Training, where I now help women reclaim their energy and confidence through holistic fitness and lifestyle coaching. In many ways, my coaching work was born from the same philosophy that guides my midwifery: when we trust our bodies, nurture them, and give them what they truly need, they flourish.
The beauty is that the struggle has always mirrored the birth process itself — waves of intensity followed by deep release and rebirth. It’s taught me to trust timing, surrender control, and hold reverence for the messy, miraculous process of becoming.
As you know, we’re big fans of Gold Soul Midwifery and Training. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Gold Soul Midwifery, I specialize in supporting families who desire a safe, empowering, and deeply connected homebirth experience. My practice is built on the midwifery model of care — one that honors birth as a natural, sacred process and places the birthing person at the center of every decision. I offer comprehensive prenatal, birth, and postpartum care that’s evidence-based yet deeply intuitive. My clients know they’re never rushed, never dismissed, and always seen as whole people — body, mind, and spirit. I’m known for creating a sense of peace and trust in the birth space, for my calm, grounded presence, and for blending the art and science of midwifery in a way that feels both modern and ancestral.
What sets Gold Soul apart is the heart behind it — I don’t just provide care; I build relationships. I spend the time to truly know each family I serve so that when the day comes, there’s an unspoken trust in the room. It’s that trust that allows birth to unfold naturally and safely, in its own rhythm.
As my practice has evolved, so has my mission. Through Gold Soul Training, my online health and fitness coaching business, I help women — especially mothers — reconnect to their strength and vitality long after the baby years. After losing 100 pounds myself and rediscovering my own health, I felt called to create a space for women to rebuild their confidence from the inside out. My coaching blends functional fitness, personalized nutrition, and mindset work — always rooted in compassion and sustainability.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is that every branch of Gold Soul — from midwifery to coaching to education — is built on empowerment. My goal is simple: to help women trust their intuition, honor their bodies, and feel strong in every season of life. Whether I’m catching a baby in the quiet of a family’s home or guiding a mom to pick up a barbell for the first time, it all comes from the same belief — that when a woman feels supported and seen, she becomes unstoppable.
What’s next?
Looking ahead, my vision is to continue expanding the ways I serve women — both in person and online. Midwifery will always be the heartbeat of what I do, but I’m also in a season of creating more balance and sustainability for myself and my family. After more than a decade of being on call 24/7, I’m being intentional about building offerings that allow me to pour into others without constantly pouring from an empty cup.
One of the most exciting possibilities on the horizon is the expansion of my Gold Soul Midwifery team — bringing in like-minded midwives and birth workers who share the same heart for holistic, family-centered care. I envision a small, deeply connected team that allows us to serve more families while preserving the intimacy and trust that make homebirth care so special.
Beyond in-person care, I’m building an online community for expecting and new families — a nurturing space filled with resources, classes, digital guides, and holistic education. I want to make the wisdom of midwifery more accessible to families everywhere, offering virtual 1:1 consulting and mentorship for those who may not live close enough to work with me in person. My dream is for Gold Soul to touch, serve, and connect with women across the globe — to create sustainable, meaningful relationships and a sense of belonging through every stage of the childbearing journey.
Through Gold Soul Training, I’m also continuing to expand my online fitness and wellness programs, helping mothers rebuild strength, balance hormones, and rediscover their power long after birth. My goal is to bridge the gap between pregnancy and lifelong wellness — helping women feel supported not only in bringing life into the world, but in fully living theirs.
I’m also excited to keep growing the Gold Soul podcast, which has become a space for storytelling, education, and connection — blending conversations around birth, holistic living, and personal growth.
Ultimately, my plans for the future are guided by the same values that built Gold Soul from the beginning — compassion, connection, and trust in the body’s innate wisdom. Whether I’m catching babies, mentoring new mothers, or speaking to women across the world, my deepest hope is to continue helping women feel at home in their bodies and powerful in their choices.
