Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Hart.
Hi Jenny, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Like many nail artists, I started in a “chop shop” type environment, the type of salon most people think of when getting their nails done where they drop in and get any random artist, and the goal was to get as many in and out as possible.
This wasn’t where I imagined myself. I wanted to be able to provide a more catered/luxury experience for my clients, not a rushed fast food style service. I saw there was a need for change in this industry and I wanted to be at the forefront of that change.
I left the salon, and I started from scratch back in 2017. It took a lot of hours, sweat, tears, and faith…never wavering in my belief in myself to grow my own business exactly how I envision it! It was important to me to create an attentive client experience paired with quality artistry. I always strive to offer the best quality service, stay ahead of the trends, use the best products, & continue my education to provide a long-lasting set of beautifully executed nails catered specifically for each client’s wants/needs. I love to treat them like they are royalty, creating a safe environment for them to relax and be pampered. It is important for me to form a genuine relationship with my clients.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The first few years were challenging, just like many other business owners can attest. I took as many different classes as I could, and I traveled to many different states striving to improve my skill set. I always want to be better at what I do to offer only the best quality in every set of nails that I do. I not only use the best products but truly put my whole heart and soul into it.
There are always challenges in any line of work. In the beginning, it was a struggle to grow my clientele and earn their loyalty and trust. Then, there is the challenge of holding them accountable for cancellations/no-shows/showing up late. It’s hard to balance the friendship I have with each of them, but also running the business side that pays my bills and feeds my family. Those boundaries are very tricky in this industry, but I’m grateful to have such kind and understanding clients who respect me and my business. Those that don’t, I have learned to respectfully part ways with.
Not only are we conducting business, we now have to stay on top of our social media game to stay relevant. It’s a constant juggle of balancing what little time there seems to be in the day. I think sometimes people forget, I’m a mother and wife on top of everything! But I love it all, and I will continue to be grateful for this life that I have built.
We’ve been impressed with The Real Glam By Jenny, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a small business owner/luxury nail artist. I primarily cater to clients with a high-fashion aesthetic and pride myself in detailed/high-quality nails that last up to 6-8 weeks (should my client choose to go that long.) with no lifting or chipping!
My biggest flex is the community I’ve built over the years of fellow artists, clients, and friends. I am so fortunate to be able to surround myself with such kind, hard-working people who constantly inspire, empower, and support each other through both successes and struggles! I genuinely love being able to help those around me grow and thrive. I do not believe in competition and am passionate about sharing all the knowledge, tips, skills, etc I have acquired over the years in any way that can positively help someone in their own career path in this nail industry.
For clients who book with me expect to leave with a beautiful set of nails and a forever friendship. I will always create a safe place to collaborate, relax/unwind, vent, laugh, cry and be unapologetically who you are while I do my best to be attentive to all your needs.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
She lives in Utah so maybe we skip this one?
Although she loves to travel there and loves the city!
