Exploring Life & Business with Jacqueline Min of Comme Waxing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Min.

Hi Jacqueline, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my journey in waxing back in 2017. Since I was young, I was always drawn to the beauty industry, but because the field is so broad, I wasn’t sure which direction suited me best. One day, one of my professors noticed that I had strong hands and suggested that I try skincare or waxing. She also pointed out that waxing requires a very specific type of personality—because it involves directly touching a client’s skin—and not everyone has the natural aptitude for it. She believed my personality and strengths would make me a great fit, and that encouragement is what led me to give waxing a try.

Once I began learning and actually started working in the field, I realized how much I truly loved it. The work was exciting, and seeing immediate results made it even more rewarding. Later, when I moved to the United States to be closer to my family, I had the opportunity to work with a much more diverse range of clients. That made my job even more enjoyable. I would spend anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours with each person, hearing their stories, learning from them, and gaining insights I never expected—all while continuously sharpening my skills.

I’ve always believed that true technique doesn’t fade. To this day, I can proudly say that I’ve had very few clients dissatisfied with my waxing skills, and that’s something I’m genuinely confident about. Eventually, I felt it was time to create a space of my own, and in 2022, I opened Comme Waxing.

I am incredibly grateful that many of my clients from the very beginning still visit me regularly. My philosophy has always been simple: give my absolute best to every single client, every single visit.

I’m Jacqueline, the owner of Comme Waxing, and I’m grateful that I get to do the work I love every day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I moved to the United States, the COVID-19 pandemic began shortly after—and that was probably the most challenging period of my waxing career. Everything was uncertain, and no one knew when the pandemic would end. For someone in a hands-on profession like mine, it felt especially discouraging because our work depends entirely on close, in-person contact.

But even during that time, I didn’t let go of hope. I kept believing that things would eventually get better, and that I would return to doing what I loved. That mindset is what helped me push through that difficult chapter.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Comme Waxing, I specialize in professional hair removal services, with Brazilian waxing being the most requested. Over time, I’ve also become well-known for my pregnancy-safe waxing care. Many expecting mothers visit me to get pampered and feel comfortable before giving birth, and it has become one of the signature services my studio is trusted for.

What truly sets my business apart is the combination of skill and hygiene. “Comme” actually comes from the Korean word “꼼꼼함,” which means meticulousness—and that perfectly reflects my approach. I prioritize precision, cleanliness, and a flawless finish in every service I provide.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the loyalty of my clients. I don’t rely heavily on advertising or big marketing campaigns, yet I’ve been able to build a strong base of repeat customers. Many of my new clients come through word of mouth, which I believe is the strongest sign of trust in my work.
