Hi Hulnara , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am just an immigrant , a girl from Belarus who came to USA in 2003 at the age of 21 in search of my AmericanDream with 500$ sewn into my bra by my mother , I spoke no English, but I learned it within a year to the level of entering the University of Michigan School of Nursing. I speak Russian, and I had no family here when I came. I spent my first night in America at JFK at the bench crying and not knowing where to go. The bus driver noticed me and drove me to Colombia University where I was able to rent a spot at the hostel for several days till I found a job (5$ per hour under table loading vegetables at a jewish store).
My first real job was cleaning at the Microtel Hotel. I always held several jobs: Subway, McDonalds, Forever 21, Pizza House- and I attended nursing school. My studies were happening at 24/7 Starbucks on Washington street at night, because I would fall asleep at home, but Starbucks workers all knew me, and gently woke me up per my request if I doze off.
Today I am a Nurse Practitioner and a small aesthetic business owner! UpLifted is the culmination of all i ever worked for, my vision, my “why”, my future for my children, my example to other girls to keep focus to succeed, and it is the beginning. My parents were able to come to America for my graduation to be proud of me, I’m married to a US Marine who loved my story before he loved me, I have 2 baby girls and am not lonely in this country any more, I have an opportunity to influence many women’s lives through my career and give them confidence. I also share my story openly and am very humble. I think no matter how high you fly you should remember your roots and have gratitude
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not a smooth road, nothing good comes easy or fast. The struggles I still have is balancing my injectables craft and my nursing calling with the cold side of business. Being a good business women assures success. But i like to say. Ideally if it was my way I would not even charge people and do their facial treatments for free- thats how much i love what I do. But the survival and prosperity of business depends on balancing being a good business lady and my kind nursing heart.

I am a cosmetic nurse practitioner and I founded Uplifted in 2022 after practicing nursing since 2009. What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
That people are generally kind, they wish you well, and you dont even realize how loved you are. I had so many of our patients come to our grand opening 2 years ago and i did not realize how loved I was. I also learned to let go and let things unfold the way they should. Things always work out in the end exactly how they should no matter how much stress and anxiety you experience.
