Exploring Life & Business with Elly Zhang of Qutie Pets Grooming

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elly Zhang.

Elly Zhang

Hi Elly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a mother of 2 dogs (now 4 with 2 more cats), I always had a hard time finding a good grooming place for my fur babies and had a mix of feelings about leaving them to the groomers for hours. At the time, I was overwhelmed with my sales job; I started thinking since I love animals so much, why not give it a try to learn how to groom by myself? After graduating from the grooming school, I first worked at a grooming shop in East LA. The owner was a very kind lady, she taught me a lot about taking care of the dogs with cares and affection. I was touched by the bond between the shop owner and customers, so I started thinking of having my own business someday. Luckily, I found one grooming shop for sale at Chino Hills; after carefully considering it, me and my partner brought the shop, which is Qutie Pet Grooming. At the beginning, the shop traffic was ok, and there were lot of issues left by previous owner, plus the covid hit us really bad on business. We were frustrated at that time, thankfully everyone in our team are greatly bonded, we worked through the hard time together and when the “puppy boom” comes, because of our excellent customer services and great grooming skill, the business start getting back on track. Fortunately, customers see our passion and love to all those furry friends, lot of our them had recommend us to their neighbors and friends. The Qutie pets grooming can never be what we are today without the support of our team members and dear customers

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t smooth at all sadly. A week after we bought the shop, COVID-19 started, and we were forced to shut down for months. After we reopened, we noticed the shop’s management system was a chaos, we had cases of a single dog with multiple accounts, and none of the accounts had grooming records. A lot of fixtures need to be repaired, and the waiting time takes forever due to the covid. Luckily, everything getting better after the toughest first year.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Qutie Pets Grooming?
We are a grooming shop in Chino Hills; we provide grooming services for dogs and cats and occasionally cut bunny’s nails, lol. I feel like we are best known for the love and care we give to our fur customers and the trusty relationship with our customers.
