Today we’d like to introduce you to David Forster.
Hi David, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
To recap from our last interview: I started out playing in bands and worked my way into promoting and booking local shows. I was brought into PinUp Productions as a partner in 2013 then moved to Southern California to expand the brand and to run “pay-to-play” out of the SoCal music scene. After eliminating the prime perpetrator of this business model I’ve turned my focus to my career at Code Four where I’ve been Managing graphics projects and event production for clients like the LA Chargers, SoFi Stadium/Hollywood Park, Vans, Pacific Airshow and Super Bowl. I’m currently (as I type this) working on Super Bowl 57 in Arizona. I also still play in Throne of Tyranny and we dropped a new EP in July called Blk Gld.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggles I’ve encountered are usually self-inflicted. Seldom are struggling external.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a concert promotion and production company. We book metal bands all over the state, promote the shows and on occasion provide production. We also have an Artist Management division where my partner Joel Haston develops up-and-coming bands.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Have faith in your team. Build community, not competitors. You’ll never micro-manage your way to success.
