Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniella Mikhael-Fard.
Hi Daniella, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been drawn to real estate and law, both for the structure and creativity they allow. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara in 2018 with a degree in communications and a minor in Italian, I attended Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and passed the California Bar in 2021. I began my career at a Century City real estate law firm, representing property owners in both transactions and litigation, which gave me a strong foundation in commercial and residential real estate.
From there, I launched DM Law, where I now represent commercial landlords, property owners, developers, and contractors across California. My practice spans everything from commercial breach of lease and unlawful detainer actions, to complex joint venture disputes, to construction defect and delay cases involving millions in damages. I also draft and negotiate commercial leases and construction contracts, ensuring my clients’ interests are protected on every level.
Beyond law, I’m also a licensed real estate broker, which allows me to bridge the gap between legal and business strategy for my clients. This dual role is important to me because I don’t just want to resolve disputes — I want to help clients grow, protect, and maximize their investments.
What’s guided me throughout is my belief that communication and compassion matter just as much as legal skill. Whether I’m advocating in court or negotiating a deal, I strive to make my clients feel heard, supported, and confident in their next steps. That commitment, paired with my entrepreneurial drive, is what’s gotten me to where I am today and continues to shape the way I practice and build my business.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Commercial real estate — especially on the legal side — is still very male-dominated, and as a young woman in this space I’ve had to overcome a lot of assumptions and biases. I’ve been mistaken for an assistant, overlooked in meetings, and even told that I was only brought to mediations because of how I look. Those moments sucked, but they also fueled my determination to establish myself as a knowledgeable, capable, and trusted advocate.
On top of that, building my own practice from the ground up has come with its own challenges: balancing the demands of litigation with the realities of running a business, proving myself in high-stakes disputes involving millions of dollars, and navigating the constant ups and downs of California’s real estate market.
But the struggles have shaped me. They’ve taught me resilience, sharpened my problem-solving skills, and reminded me of the importance of compassion and clear communication — values I carry into every client relationship. Ultimately, those obstacles have made me stronger, more empathetic, and even more determined to create space for women in this field.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about DM Law Corporation?
DM Law is a boutique real estate law firm that I founded to provide tailored, results-driven representation to commercial landlords, property owners, developers, and contractors across California. We handle everything from breach of lease and unlawful detainer actions, to joint venture ownership disputes, to construction defect and delay matters involving millions of dollars in damages. Beyond litigation, we also draft and negotiate commercial leases and construction contracts — ensuring that our clients’ interests are protected both inside and outside the courtroom.
What sets us apart is our dual approach. I’m not only a real estate attorney but also a licensed real estate broker, which allows me to bring a unique perspective to every deal and dispute. I understand the business side of real estate as deeply as the legal side, and that combination means my clients get strategies that are both practical and legally sound.
DM Law is also built around communication and compassion. Real estate disputes can be stressful and overwhelming, so I make it a priority that my clients feel heard, supported, and confident at every step. That commitment to accessibility and care is a big part of my firm.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the reputation we’ve built as a firm that fights fiercely for our clients while still delivering a personal, human experience. I want readers to know that DM Law isn’t just about resolving disputes — it’s about protecting investments, building relationships, and helping clients grow in one of the most competitive real estate markets in the world.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’ll be honest — outside of work, I’m a huge fantasy book girl. My favorite author is Sarah J. Maas, and her books are my go-to escape after a long day of reading dense legal documents. Getting lost in those worlds of magic and romance gives me a creative reset that actually fuels my focus when I come back to work.
I also enjoy podcasts like Diary of a CEO, which offer insights into business, mindset, and leadership that I can apply both personally and professionally. For me, it’s all about balance — I spend my days immersed in the law, so at night I love to step into something imaginative, while still carving out time for resources that challenge me to grow as an entrepreneur.
