Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Harary.
Hi Dan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Born and raised just outside of Asbury Park, New Jersey, I am a man of many talents. While best known for my 42-years of work in Hollywood as an Entertainment Industry Publicist and Owner of the boutique Asbury PR Agency in Beverly Hills ( https://asburypr.com/ ), I am also the Author of four books: FLIRTING WITH FAME, AFTER THEY CAME, MY PARANORMAL LIFE, and FIVE. During my years in Hollywood, I have worked on numerous films, TV shows, projects and live events with many of the biggest film, TV and music stars in the world.
In addition to my profession as a Publicist, I am also a four-time UFO Experiencer and longtime member of the Southern California Chapter of MUFON; the Chairman, Creator and Co-Founder, along with Stephen Bassett, of the Hollywood Disclosure Alliance; the host of the podcast FROM HOLLYWOOD IT’S PARANORMAL TONIGHT!; the Founder/Editorial Director and Owner of the global WOW! Signal News Service — a unique publicity distribution service for those researchers who are working across every avenue of the UAP/UFO/ET issue; the Director of Media Relations for Contact in the Desert, the world’s largest annual UFO Conference, and the Executive Producer of the original HDA documentary “Secrets in the Spotlight,” which airs on Amazon Prime.
In 1970, when I was 13, my late father and I witnessed a remarkable UFO event that I forgot about for decades. When I remembered that sighting in 2017, a series of paranormal events occurred that would change my life. Since 2023, I have been interviewed about my UFO experiences many dozens of times by the top radio shows and podcasts around the world. Additionally, I have given live, in-person lectures for audiences at Contact in the Desert, the Conscious Life Expo, the Southern California Chapter of MUFON, the Hollywood Disclosure Alliance, and the I.S.E.E.U. UFO Group in Los Angeles. And I have presented Online/Zoom lectures for a number of MUFON Chapters across the USA, including for MUFON Members in New Jersey, North Carolina, Minnesota, Missouri and Florida.
I am a Graduate of Boston University’s School of Communications – I attended BU alongside radio legend Howard Stern. The father of two adult children, I live in Beverly Hills, CA.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in life is a smooth road. My successes were always based on my own persistence, talents, and timing. While today I’ve owned and operated my own entertainment industry PR agency for almost 30 years, along the way I had to deal with a few God-awful bosses and clients who tortured me professionally – some for short periods of time, some for years. I am most grateful to have had the ability and fortitude to overcome those horrendous people and moments.
We’ve been impressed with The Asbury PR Agency & The Hollywood Disclosure Alliance , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own and operate The Asbury PR Agency, Inc., a boutique public relations, marketing and branding agency for every aspect of those working across every aspect of the entertainment industry.
I also own and operate The WOW! Signal News, a unique online news service for global UFO researchers.
I also am the Chairman of a non-profit organization called The Hollywood Disclosure Alliance, a group that combines UFO researchers and experiencers with Hollywood industry writers, producers, directors and performers to help develop and produce the next era of motion pictures, TV shows and documentaries based on the real life experiences of real life people from around the world.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If you are just starting out in the Public Relations field in Los Angeles, do a tremendous amount of research so you can decide what KIND of PR you’d like to specialize in. There are publicists for banks, law firms, authors, artists, music acts, comedians, films, TV show, live theater, real estate agencies, doctors, hospitals, non-profit groups, etc. Figure out where your interest lies and then seek established and professionals in those areas who might be willing to hire you as an assistant or secretary or even receptionist. I was a receptionist in my earliest days in Hollywood, and it paid the bills for a few months. Target your emails to the specific people you’d like to become some day in the future.
