Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Turner.
Hi Corey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After graduating from UC Santa Barbara with both a Film and Economics degree I went the “safe” route and got a job in finance, and held that for several years. However, I had the creative energy burning inside of me and every time I had the chance to film something, whether that be a music video, feature film, or commercial I jumped on the opportunity. It got to the point where my content was better than the guys doing it full time.
So, my wife (girlfriend at the time) Megan Nager, gave me the push I needed…or threatened me…either one is correct. And I took the leap and became the head of the LA creative video team at Endeavor. Then Covid happened, and I went from filming Sundance Film Festival and the Oscar Party to editing zoom videos. I couldn’t take that for long, and quickly jumped out of the corporate world and founded Wake and Make Media with my wife Megan. Wake and Make Media is a full service creative marketing agency that utilizes what we learned in the filmmaking industry and uses it to create high end commercials for social media and streaming TV advertisements.
The Entrepreneurship life is a wild one, there has never been something so stressful but so rewarding at the same time. We are 5 years into our agency and every year we are increasing the size or the team and our clients.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
First of all, I didn’t trust my creative skills enough to go fully into the creative industry out of college. I feel like I set myself back years for that.
Next was an obstacle but a blessing, and that was Covid forcing me out of the corporate world and into my own business.
Every day as an entrepreneur you are putting out fires and it is extremely stressful, but I can’t see myself doing anything else at this point

Wake and Make Media is a creative marketing agency for Health and Wellness businesses, it really focuses on the creative utilizing our filmmaking background. We specialize in ads on Google, Meta, and streaming TV. Where most marketing agencies to either the creative or the media buying, we do both, which allows us to fast track results for our clients because we are in constant communication with our performance marketers and creative marketers.
We pride ourselves on high quality creatives (videos and graphics) we utilize high end cinema cameras, and filmmaking equipment that is typically seen on a feature film for our digital ads. I am extremely proud of our ability to create digital ads at scale, which allows us to expand outside out local area, we have clients in 10 different states, with more coming soon.
